You could say Tulsa Drillers starting pitcher Brandon Hynick has had a journey of Ulysses-type proportions.
Originally an eighth-round draft pick of the Colorado Rockies in 2006, Hynick had triple-digit win totals at Class A, AA, and AAA (including 10 wins with Tulsa in 2008) and appeared to be heading to Coors Field and a spot in the Rockies rotation. However, he was traded late in the 2009 season to the Chicago White Sox for major leaguer Jose Contreras.
I had the chance to sit down with Hynick during Tulsa's last homestand and found him to be a very gracious guy with a great attitude on baseball and life in general. He's throwing great right now for Tulsa and is still looking for his first appearance in the major leagues.
