With two wins under their belt in the Mets' home territory, the Rockies hope to continue their good play as of late and put themselves in a position to take yet another series. The Rockies will be pitching Jeff Francis, on five days rest, the Mets counter with Matt Havrey.
Francis continues to struggle with home runs, particularly early in the game, which has been leading to his allowing more runs than he should be given the amount of hits and walks he's been allowing. If he is granted a win tonight, which of course is a challenge for any Rockies starter these days, it will be the most wins Francis has been granted in a Rockies uniform since he won 17 in 2007.
Opposing us will be rookie Matt Harvey, making his sixth start at the MLB level. Harvey is coming off the best start of his young career so far, a seven and two-thirds inning outing against Cincinnati in which he struck out eight, walked one and allowed just one run. Harvey could be a dangerous opponent; in the small MLB sample, his good walk and strikeout numbers reflect his minor league career in that they are very, very good. He has been much less hittable in his MLB starts so far, however.
