With St. Louis down to Washington as of the time I'm writing this, the Dodgers would seemingly have an opportunity to make up a game in their wild card chase of the Cardinals and draw within two games back of the last playoff spot with four left to play. All that stands in their way is Tyler Chatwood and the Rockies, so the motivation for Colorado in this one is simple. The Rockies should do everything in their power to leave Los Angeles stuck with the bill for their trade season spending spree, but without the potential playoff revenue to help offset that. It may or may not amount to much of a spending roadblock for Los Angeles down the road, but anything would probably help.
