Future MLB expansion, realignment and other radical ideas.

Grant expansion franchises to Mexico City, Charlotte/Raleigh, Portland, San Antonio/Austin, Orlando/Jacksonville, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Columbus, Nashville/Memphis and Norfolk/Richmond.

Also, the Athletics move to San Jose, the Mets move to Brooklyn, and the White Sox move to Indianapolis, while the Angels change back to Anaheim.

Realign into 8 divisions of 5 teams each. No more American League or National League, just one Major League, without any conference setup, just 8 different geographical divisions.

Atlantic Division: Baltimore, Brooklyn, New York, Philadelphia and Washington.

Northeast Division: Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Toronto.

Southeast Division: Atlanta, Carolina, Miami, Orlando and Tampa Bay.

Metro Division: Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis, Tennessee and Virginia.

Central Division: Chicago, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Minnesota and Saint Louis.

Southwest Division: Arizona, Houston, Mexico City, San Antonio and Texas.

Northwest Division: Colorado, Las Vegas, Portland, Sacramento and Seattle.

Pacific Division: Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose.

Regular season reduced to 158 games. Each team plays three 4-game series' vs. their 4 division opponents = 48 games + one 4-game home series + one 4-game road series vs. 1 other team ( alternated per season ) = 8 games + one 3-game series vs. all the other 34 teams = 102 games. The 20 coldest weather teams play on the road at the 20 warmest weather teams during the 1st month.

Playoffs expanded to 16 teams, including 8 division winners, seeded 1 thru 8, + 8 wild cards, with a tie-breaker system used to determine seeds and even eliminate teams. All 4 rounds are expanded to best 5 out of 9, with a 3-4-2 format, except for the World Series, to be played at a warm-weather neutral site in November.

Rosters expanded to 30 players for entire regular season + post-season. All teams are allowed 3 designated hitters per game, and they are not limited to any positions, including pitcher. For example, if a team has a really good hitting starting pitcher, then their manager can DH for the catcher, shortstop and second baseman, or any 3 positions for that matter.

Each organization is limited to 1 Triple-A, 1 Double-A, 1 Class A, and 2 Rookie League affiliates. No more Class A-Advanced or Class A-Short Season, just 1 Class A level. The 1st-year Rule 4 amateur draft is expanded to include international players.

Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).
