The Colorado Rockies put up crooked numbers in both the third and eighth innings and got quality innings from seven different pitchers en route to a 9-1 Cactus League win over the Texas Rangers.

Right-hander Chris Volstad started on the mound in his debut for the Rockies, giving up two hits in two innings, but managing to erase both of them on double plays.

The Rockies took the lead in the bottom of the third when D.J. LeMahieu drove in Charlie Blackmon, who had doubled, with an RBI single. Troy Tulowitzki, who also played well defensively, had a 2-run single later in the inning to give Colorado a 3-0 lead.

Dexter Fowler brought home Eric Young Jr. with an RBI triple in the fifth to extend the Rockies lead to 4-0.

The Rangers finally got on the board in the sixth against Rockies reliever Manny Corpas. Ian Kinsler's sacrifice fly brought home Leonys Martin, who had singled earlier in the inning and advanced to third on Craig Gentry's double.

The Rockies sealed the win in the eighth thanks to a pair of long balls from Charlie Culberson and Nolan Arenado as well as an RBI single from Ben Paulsen. After Paulsen's run-scoring hit, Culberson's three-run bomb and Arenado's solo blast off Rangers reliever Neil Ramirez stretched the lead to 9-1 before Rob Scahill finished off the game in the ninth.

Tomorrow, the Rockies head to Mesa, Ariz. to take on the Chicago Cubs, with both Jhoulys Chacin and Jorge de la Rosa scheduled to pitch.
