AAA Colorado Springs: W 19-5 (7-4, 2nd, 1.5 GB)
Tulsa, Modesto and Asheville combined to score seven runs on Monday. The Sky Sox beat that by a dozen in a rout of Las Vegas. Six players had two or more hits for Colorado Springs, which put in excess of 30 runners on base thanks to 18 hits, seven walks and six Las Vegas errors.
Ryan Wheeler and Ben Paulsen had three hits apiece. Paulsen had five RBIs, while Charlie Culberson drove in four with a grand slam in the ninth inning. Nolan Arenado came on in relief of Wheeler in the seventh inning and proceeded to go 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three runs batted in. Paulsen, Culberson and Charlie Blackmon homered for the Sky Sox.
Aaron Cook got the start and allowed three runs on three hits and four walks in four innings. His ERA sits at 12.15. Rob Scahill got the win by tossing 2.2 innings of two-run ball. Both runs were unearned.
AA Tulsa: W 3-2 (5-6, 2nd, 1 GB)
Kyle Parker hit a walk-off home run to send the Drillers to victory after the team fell down by two runs after the first couple of innings. Parker led Tulsa's offense with three hits, while Angelys Nina and Henry Wrigley also hit solo homers. Rafael Ortega continues to struggle; his 0-for-3 outing dropped his batting average to .063.
Parker Frazier was dominant in relief, striking out four batters in 2.1 scoreless innings. Steven Hensley earned the win by tossing a scoreless ninth in which he struck out two batters and walked one.
A+ Modesto: L 6-1 (5-7, 4th, 4 GB)
Chris Jensen stacked up well on the mound against Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Archie Bradley. Bradley wound up getting the win by allowing a run on three hits and a walk in six innings while striking out eight, but Jensen fanned nine batters in five innings despite allowing three runs on six hits.
Timothy Smalling drove in the Nuts' only run on a fifth-inning double which plated Trevor Story. Story went 0-for-2 with a walk and a pair of strikeouts and is hitting .150.
A Asheville: L 6-3 (6-6, 5th, 1.5 GB)
T.J. Oakes allowed five runs on seven hits, including a pair of home runs, in 4.1 innings to put the Tourists in a big hole early. Ryan Arrowood struck out five and allowed just two hits in 3.2 scoreless innings of relief, but the damage had already been done.
Jason Stolz had a pair of hits and drove in a run. Julian Yan went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk but struck out twice.
