The Colorado Rockies, according to the Associated Press and ESPN, have recalled left-handed reliever, Josh Outman, and optioned righty Chris Volstad to AAA Colorado Springs. The piece is quoting manager Walt Weiss:
"More than anything, it gives us another left-hander in the bullpen and Josh has been throwing well," "It gives us our best shot, especially here in the near future. Chris didn't perform poorly but he was in a situation where he wasn't getting a lot of consistent work. So, hopefully, he'll go down there and get that consistent work and I imagine he'll be with us again at some point this year."
I linked in the Thursday Rockpile to an article breaking down Outman's unusual mechanics and his
re-training. I'm not sure how the Rockies feel about his mechanics but we will soon get a chance to see how he looks in the Show very soon. He was 1-0 with an 0.84 in 5 games for Colorado Springs, including 14 Ks in 10 2/3 innings.
