I tried to jinx the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night by putting "2012" in the headline for the game thread, but fortunately the guys in purple wouldn't let things go down like that.
Jorge De La Rosa pitched six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and a pair of walks while striking out four to lead the Rockies to a 4-3 win, their eighth straight victory. Michael Cuddyer homered and Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez each drove in a run to prevent my pregame snafu from causing a loss.
Edgmer Escalona allowed a two-run, pinch-hit home run to Eric Chavez in the eighth inning and Rafael Betancourt loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, but these Rockies held strong and put the finishing touches on their league-best 13th win in 17 games. That start represents the best in club history, eclipsing similar hot stretches to start the 1995 and 2011 seasons.
Now, someone tell Dave Cameron to keep his shit hooks out of this, and in return I'll promise to not almost jinx the team again.
