Colorado 6, Arizona 3: Rockies still top in the NL West

Quick geography quiz: what it is the highest region in the lower 48? Oh that's right, it's the Colorado Rockies.

This was a game I really wanted the Rockies to win. Had they lost, they would have given up their sole possession of first place in the NL West. Even worse, would have had to share that honor with Arizona. Despite a lot of naysayers, this team does not seem willing to relinquish the reins of the NL West to another team just yet and that is making this a fun, fun team to watch.

Michael Cuddyer hit a two on, two out single to score Jordan Pacheco and Carlos Gonzalez in the first, two runs which Arizona matched in the bottom of the second. They scored again on a throwing error by Troy Tulowitzki, but this would be the remainder of Arizona's offense for the rest of the game. In the 5th inning, Tulowitzki hit a bases-clearing double on the first pitch that came to him. Wilin Rosario tacked on a home run to lead off the 6th.

Juan Nicasio pitched very well in his 5 innings of work, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on four hits and a walk. He struck out only two, but induced 11 ground ball outs. Pacheco and Rosario had impressive nights at the plate, but really it was an ensemble performance in a game that seemed full of a little bit of everything.
