Michael Cuddyer went 3-for-4 with a home run and four runs driven in to lift the Colorado Rockies to a 6-3 victory over the San Diego Padres on Saturday at Coors Field in Denver, Colo. With the win, the Rockies clinched their second consecutive series victory, the first time they've done that to start a season since 1995, the club's first year in LoDo.
Cuddyer knocked in Colorado's first run in the bottom of the first inning, singling off of Padres starter Tyson Ross to plate Josh Rutledge. Cuddyer had another shot at an RBI in the fifth inning, and came through with another run-scoring single, this time bringing Carlos Gonzalez home to give the Rockies a 4-1 lead. Two innings later, Cuddyer essentially sealed it with a two-run homer, his second of the season, off of Andrew Cashner to put the Rox ahead by four.
Jon Garland was quite serviceable in his Rockies debut, allowing just two runs on five hits in six innings to earn the victory. Matt Belisle pitched a scoreless seventh for the hold, and Rafael Betancourt earned his third save of the year by keeping San Diego at bay in the ninth.
