Rockies 10, Giants 9: Coors Field Rockies remind AT&T Rockies how to win

Justin Edmonds

Fueled by Jordan Pacheco's grand slam, the Rockies beat the San Francisco Giants in a game that was a huge offensive outburst from both teams.

The Rockies had not won a game against the San Francisco Giants since September 10, 2012. This amounts to a 10 game losing streak against their divisional rivals.

This changed tonight, fueled by a strong offensive showing and despite the fact that the Giants displayed a similar offensive outburst, out-hitting the Rockies 15-11.

The Giants offense struck early, putting up four runs in the first two innings before the Rockies were able to answer back with their first run. Four consecutive singles in the third, assisted by Angel Pagan's throwing error, allowed the Rockies to tie up the game in the bottom of the third.

Jordan Pacheco's Grand Slam in the 5-run fifth was the first of his major league career. Cargo's home run in the eighth- 10th of the year- put the Rockies up 10-5. The Rockies needed this extra offensive lift in order to win the game, as the Giants answered back with a 3-run seventh and a Buster Posey home run in the eighth.

With the win, the Rockies were able to stop their losing streak at two and improve to 22-20 on the year.
