Troy Tulowitzki injury: Rockies SS leaves game in 8th inning

Three of the Rockies' top offensive players were injured on Thursday, with Troy Tulowitzki capping off the disaster after getting hurt while diving for a ball in the eighth inning.

DENVER -- Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki left Thursday's game against the Washington Nationals with an undisclosed injury.

Tulowitzki appeared to be shaken up after making a diving stop on a ground ball off the bat of Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond in the eighth inning. Tulowitzki was unable to get the ball out of his glove to flip to second base for a potential inning-ending force out, allowing a run to score to give the Nationals a two-run lead.

Tulowitzki's injury occurred after outfielders Carlos Gonzalez and Dexter Fowler already left the game with ailments of their own. Gonzalez is day-to-day with a left foot contusion after being hit with a foul ball while in the on-deck circle, and Fowler's status is currently unknown after he was hit in the hand by a pitch in the third inning.

Tulowitzki, Gonzalez and Fowler have combined to hit 44 home runs and drive in 129 runs.
