Carlos Gonzalez is the NL Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career after hitting three homers, collecting six extra-base hits and making a pair of spectacular defensive plays this past week at Coors Field.

Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez was named the National League Player of the Week after hitting .476/.522/1.095 in games against the Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies at Coors Field.

Gonzalez worked around a minor foot injury, which was the result of getting hit with a foul ball off the bat of Jordan Pacheco while standing in the on-deck circle on Thursday, to help the Rockies to a 3-3 record in six contests. Gonzalez hit three home runs, collected seven RBI and totaled six extra-base hits over the course of the week.

With his two-run blast on Sunday, Gonzalez became the first NL player to reach 20 homers this season.

CarGo also made a pair of stellar defensive plays during the week. He laid out to make a diving catch on a sinking liner off the bat of Washington's Jeff Kobernus on Wednesday and threw out Philadelphia's Michael Young at the plate from about 325 feet away on Saturday.

Gonzalez was approached in production only by one other teammate during the week. Tyler Colvin also homered three times during the week and drove in seven runs but had a less-impressive line of .316/.350/.789.

This marks the fourth time CarGo has received NL Player of the Week honors and first since August of 2011.
