Having split a four-game set with the Washington Nationals over the weekend, the Rockies now head to Fenway Park to open a two-game interleague series against the Boston Red Sox.
The Rockies will hand the ball to Juan Nicasio tonight. Nicasio will make his career-high 16th start of the season, entering tonight's game with a 4-3 record and a 4.78 ERA. He allowed four runs (two earned) in five innings in his last start in Toronto.
Boston will counter with veteran righty Ryan Dempster. Dempster has struggled to repeat the success he saw in 2012, posting a 4-8 record in 2013 with a 4.23 ERA after compiling a 3.38 ERA last season.
Offensively, Michael Cuddyer enters tonight's contest with a career-best 21-game hitting streak, a hit tonight would put him one game shy of the franchise record 23-game hitting streak of current hitting coach Dante Bichette.
For the Red Sox, infielder Jose Iglesias has been a revelation. the 23-year-old has posted a .426 average and 1.044 OPS in 121 plate appearances in 2013.
