Game #92 Preview: Jorge De La Rosa vs. Andrew Cashner

Andy Lyons

The Colorado Rockies put a more normal lineup on the field tonight prior to the expected return of Dex and Tulo.

The Rockies look to sweep win the series against the San Diego Padres tonight as Jorge De La Rosa takes the mound for a team in need of a hot streak. With Troy Tulowitzki and Dexter Fowler possibly coming back tomorrow night for the series against the Dodgers, a win tonight would get them off on the right foot to welcoming their teammates back from injury/Colorado Springs.

The Rockies have been fairly dominant against San Diego this year and I blame a depleted lineup yesterday for not continuing that dominance. Only having three normal position players in the lineup, with one of them playing out of position created an anemic offense against yet another left handed pitcher. At this point, I would tell Walt Weiss to play your best players against future lefties and forget trying to put substandard right handed bats in the lineup. Tonight should be a better affair, with Carlos Gonzalez returning, Todd Helton starting, and Nolan Arenado back at third base pushing DJ LeMahieu back over to second base.

The Padres are filling their lineup with right handers to face off against Jorge, with not a single left handed bat in the lineup. This should be a good test for De La Rosa as this should be his last start prior to the All-Star Break. Here are the lineups for your review:

1. Charlie Blackmon (L) CF

2. DJ LeMahieu (R) 2B

3. Carlos Gonzalez (L) LF

4. Michael Cuddyer (R) RF

5. Todd Helton (L) 1B

6. Nolan Arenado (R) 3B

7. Yorvit Torrealba (R) C
