Game Preview: The Rockies take on the Dodgers at 2:10 MT

USA TODAY Sports

The Rockies will try and go into the All-Star break on a positive note, as Jhoulys Chacin takes on Ricky Nolasco.

The Rockies would love more of the same from today's starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin (8-4 3.62 ERA). Chacin has gone 5-1 in his last six starts and his only loss came in his last start in which he pitched six innings and allowed just one run. The key for Chacin has been efficiency as he has worked into the seventh inning three times during the stretch, a somewhat difficult feat with the Rockies 100 and done pitch count limit.

In his career, Chacin is 7-5 with a 3.70 ERA against LA, however, he has struggled somewhat this year, giving up nine runs in 11.2 innings pitched against LA. He will be facing a Dodgers lineup that has largely been kept in check by Rockies pitching so far this series and young phenom Yasiel Puig will not be starting for the second straight game.

The Dodgers counter with Ricky Nolasco (6-8 3.70 ERA) who will be making his second start with the Dodgers after being acquired from Miami. In his first start, Nolasco threw seven innings of one-run ball in a victory over the D-Backs. Nolasco in his career against Colorado has gone 6-2, though with a high 4.76 ERA. Michael Cuddyer and Troy Tulowitzki have both had success off Nolasco in limited at bat's. Cuddyer is hitting .571 with a home run in seven at bat's and Tulo is hitting .500 with a home run in 12 at bat's.

The Rockies are certainly due for some offense after being completely shut down by Grienke yesterday 1-0. Manager Walt Weiss will be running the best lineup out there in what is the final game before the All-Star break. A Rockies win would gain them a split with LA in the four game set and put the Rockies at 46-50. Go Rockies!
