Todd Helton reached another career milestone in a career full of them today: 2500 hits, a feat achieved thanks to an opposite field double in the 7th (the 584th of his career). Here is video of the moment.
Of course, that had little bearing on the outcome of this game, as the Rockies were up 7-2 at the time. Michael Cuddyer had a much larger say on the game's outcome, going 4-4 with a solo homer (18), two doubles, and three RBI. He was joined in the multi-hit club by Corey Dickerson (3-4) and DJ LeMahieu (2-5, 2 RBI).
The Rockies got off to a fast start in this one, going up 2-0 after two innings on a Cuddyer double and Nolan Arenado solo homer (10). Unfortunately, Tyler Chatwood (newly returned from the DL) decided to really test out his health in the top of the 3rd when he attempted catch a line drive with his bare hand. He immediately gave up a two run shot to Shin-Soo Choo, walked two batters, and was removed from the game. Fortunately, Adam Ottavino was there to pick up three vital scoreless innings of relief and earn his first win of 2013.
The game stayed knotted at two until the bottom of the fifth, when LeMahieu's two-run double gave Colorado a lead they would not relinquish. Cuddyer followed with a double and Arenado added a sac fly to make it 6-2. Just preceding Helton's milestone hit, Cuddyer smacked his homer to give the Rockies their final run and Rockies fans cheap tacos.

Panda Rating: Happy about this, sad about the college football. At this point the sad is winning.
