Giants 3, Rockies 2 (Ten innings): Same as it ever was

Jason O. Watson

For those who didn't watch this game, what you probably think happened.....It happened.

The Rockies and Giants played a baseball game and the road team lost in excruciating fashion.  Same as it ever was...

The Rockies had an eighth inning lead at AT&T park and couldn't seal the deal.  Same as it ever was...

Jhoulys Chacin was excellent in this game going seven strong innings while allowing just one run on four hits and a walk.  The performance drops Chacin's road ERA on the season to 2.10.  Same as it ever was....

Corey Dickerson misplayed what should have been an easy fly ball early in the game when he mistakenly thought Charlie Blackmon had called him off.  It wouldn't go as an error, but it was another whacky play at AT&T park that did not end well for the Rockies.  Same as it ever was...

Troy Tulowitzki and DJ LeMahieu each made excellent defensive plays in this one.  Same as it ever was...

After pitching so well for so long in a Rockies uniform, Matt Belisle sadly continues to look more and more hittable.  Same as it ever was...

In the tenth inning, two of the first three Colorado hitters (Charlie Blackmon and Josh Rutledge) recorded hits, but a double play in between killed any chance of pushing the go ahead run across the plate.  Same as it ever was...

After the lead off single from Blackmon, Walt Weiss elected to bunt.  Same as it ever was...

Oh yeah, that bunt double play that Jonathan Herrera ground into?  It wasn't a double play.  First base umpire Alan Porter blew the call - But what would a Rockies / Giants game be without an umpire getting something wrong? Same as it ever was...

The Rockies scored just two runs in ten innings in a game on the road. Same as it ever was...

Angel Pagan burned the Rockies in the tenth inning of a game at AT&T park. Same as it ever was...

The first hit of the Giants rally wasn't hit well at all. It was a soft ground ball that was placed perfectly and just barely found it's way into right field.  Same as it ever was...

The Giants victory came in walk off fashion. Same as it ever was...

With the loss, the Rockies are now mathematically eliminated from winning the division. Same as it ever was...
