Starting pitcher Devin Burke allowed six runs in six innings of work. He allowed just four hits, and none of the runs he was charged with were earned. Burke walked one and struck out one.
Raimel Tapia had two hits and drove in Grand Junction's lone run. Cesar Galvez tripled and scored, and Jordan Patterson went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.
The Rockies will return home for Game 2 on Tuesday. A win will push the series to a third and final game. Zach Jemiola, who has fallen on hard times of late, will take the mound for Grand Junction. He has a 5.90 ERA in his last 10 starts, but the last time he faced Idaho Falls (Aug. 29), Jemiola worked eight innings and allowed just one run, though he was saddled with the loss.
