Indians 14, Rockies 3: Jorge De La Rosa, Rex Brothers lit up in loss

Move along ... nothing to see here!

Jorge De La Rosa surrendered five runs in three innings and the Rockies' bullpen allowed nine more to cross the plate in the team's 14-3 loss to the Indians on Friday.

It wasn't really De La Rosa's day from the start. The veteran southpaw worked around a hit and a walk in the first by getting an out on a pick off, but traffic on the basepaths was a common theme in the next two innings. The Indians racked up nine hits and drew a pair of walks against the Rockies' Opening Day starter, whose spring ERA rose to 8.44.

The Rockies' bullpen--particularly Rex Brothers--didn't fare much better. Brothers did not find the plate often in his inning of work, issuing a pair of walks and hitting a batter, and the results weren't good when he did. The young left-hander gave up four runs and did not notch a strikeout while giving up a single and a long double.

Mike McClendon and Nick Masset also struggled out of the pen, but Tommy Kahnle continued his impressive Cactus League showing by striking out a batter in a perfect inning of work. Chad Bettis did the same in his lone frame and still has not allowed a run in seven innings.

Jordan Pacheco led the Rockies' offensive starters with a pair of hits, including a double, to raise his spring average to .357. Tim Wheeler also had two hits including a home run, his team-leading third of the spring. The 26-year-old outfielder is on a nice run, rediscovering his power stroke while hitting .343/..425/.743 in 21 Cactus League contests.

Starters Carlos Gonzalez, Justin Morneau and DJ LeMahieu had one hit apiece for the Rockies, who were outhit by Cleveland, 16-8.

So that's that ... an overall woeful performance masked by a couple of nice individual games from a couple of difference pitchers and hitters. Woo spring!
