As the parent club romped to a third straight victory, the affiliates stumbled to a 3-5 record yesterday.

AAA: Colorado Springs 5, Round Rock 0 (Game 2)
The Rockies faced a familiar foe in game two of the doubleheader in former PuRP Edwar Cabrera. They welcomed him back with a loss. Dan Houston (four innings), Rob Scahill (two), and PuRP 28 Chris Martin (one) combined to throw a four hit shutout for the Sky Sox, with Scahill getting the official W. Kyle Parker hit his 11th homer on the year while Tim Smalling and Jackson Williams each had two hits for the Sky Sox.
AA: Arkansas 5, Tulsa 3
Brian Humphries produced Tulsa's offense in this one, going 2-3 with all three RBI. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to produce a victory for the Drillers, who were limited to six hits. Carlos Hernandez took the loss, going six innings and allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out five.
High A: Modesto 6, Inland Empire 2
In a battle of the two basement dwellers in the California League, the Nuts jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in 101 degree heat and never looked back. David Dahl (PuRP 2) went 3-4 with his first High A homer since his promotion last week, as well as a triple - falling a double short of the cycle. Francisco Sosa added two hits and a RBI for the Nuts.
Meanwhile, Jordan Lyles made a rehab start with the Nuts, throwing 3 2/3 innings of three hit shutout ball. Lyles walked two and struck out four in 71 pitches. Matt Flemer got the win in relief, throwing 4 1/3 innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out four. Check out Brian Vanderbeek's recap at the Modesto Bee for more.
Low A: Charleston 8, Asheville 7 (F-13)
It was a back and forth game for the Tourists, who came back twice from multi-run deficits only to lose in extra innings. Emerson Jimenez (HM PuRP) hit his first homer of the year, while Correlle Prime (PuRP 23) hit his 16th as part of a multi-hit night. Michael Benjamin, Jordan Patterson (PuRP 29), Ryan McMahon (PuRP 6), and Dillon Thomas also had two hit nights for Asheville in a losing effort.

Troy Neiman followed with 4 1/3 stellar one hit frames of relief, then Matt Pierpoint added three more scoreless relief innings before Dylan Stamey allowed the go-ahead run in the top of the 13th inning.
Short Season A: Eugene 5, Tri-City 2
The Dust Devils, who were devoid of any PuRPs in this game, got two hits and a RBI out of Shane Hoelscher, but not much else on offense in this loss. Blake Shouse went six frames, permitting three runs on six hits while striking out six batters.

Wes Rogers, Colorado's fourth round pick this year, went 2-4 with a SB and hit his first professional home run. Hamlet Marte (HM PuRP) drove in two while Max George had a multi-hit game with a double and a RBI.
Dominican Summer League: DSL Orioles2 3, DSL Rockies 1
The DSL Rockies were held to three hits in this one, but they did manage a run on a Ramon Marcellino RBI single. $700k bonus baby Erick Julio (AKA a prospect worth knowing about) threw five innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out six. In 53 2/3 innings this year, Julio has a 2.35 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and a 36:8 K/BB rate.
