The Kansas City Royals have inquired about Colorado Rockies LHP Jorge De La Rosa in the hours leading up to Thursday's trade deadline, according to Fox Sports' Jon Morosi.
The Royals are reportedly looking to improve their starting rotation and have eyed the most successful home pitcher in Coors Field history.
The argument against trading De La Rosa is exactly that point, but if the Rockies can get something of value for a player who may be gone after the season anyway, they should definitely consider it. No word on who the Rockies may be looking to acquire in return.
It is also worth noting that De La Rosa truly loves pitching in Colorado. He has mentioned this on several occasions and could always re-sign with the Rockies this offseason after a trade.
Still, for a team that needs to be adding MLB-quality pitching and not subtracting it, the deal from the Royals would need to be just right. JDLR is likely worth more to the Rockies than he is to anyone else at the moment.
