Kyle Kendrick takes the mound for the Rockies tonight for the 17th time this season. The veteran right-hander's first 16 starts for the club have not been pretty, as he currently carries a 6.07 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP while allowing a league-high 23 home runs.
Kendrick's struggles have not been limited to Coors Field, either, as he has a 5.60 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in nine road starts, having allowed 10 home runs in 54⅔ innings away from home.
Diamondbacks manager will return left-handed hitter Jake Lamb to the lineup at third base and has switch hitter Cliff Pennington at shortstop after both hitters sat out last night against Rockies lefty Chris Rusin. A.J. Pollock returns to the leadoff spot for Arizona, as well.
Right-hander Chase Anderson is on the mound for Arizona tonight. He enters the game with a 3.66 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 91 innings in his 15 starts this year. Anderson has a 6.00 ERA in 33 career innings against the Rockies, having started six games against them. He has a 3.63 ERA against Colorado in three starts at Chase Field.
The Rockies will change the right side of their infield after last night's loss, with DJ LeMahieu batting second and playing second base and Wilin Rosario playing first base and batting sixth.
First pitch at Chase Field is at 7:40 p.m. Mountain time.
