Inside Isotopes Pitching with Coach Darryl Scott | Rockies Zingers
J.J. Buck has an insightful interview with Isotopes pitching coach Darryl Scott. In particular, Scott has a lot of great things to say about Jeff Hoffman's command and curveball. "You don't see too many young pitchers that have that kind of curveball or that kind of command." Scott also references the pitch's spin rate, although he doesn't reveal any additional details. There's a recording of the interview included, for the audial types.
We'll have more on Hoffman's excellent Sunday start in today's Pebble Report.
Trevor Story, Nolan Arenado lead MLB homer parade | Denver Post
Patrick Saunders overviews the Rockies' homerific month of April. The Rockies tied with the Diamondbacks for the most home runs in April, with 37. Story and Arenado's 20 April home runs are more than the rest of the team combined. One nugget of information that seems like it can't be true, but is, is that none of Arenado's 80 career home runs has gone to the opposite field.

Some hair splitters have told me that the dinger furthest to the right is "opposite field," but I maintain that it is within the spatial parameters of center field—this is a ball that, if it had stayed in play, would have been fielder by the center fielder. So keep an eye out for an oppo dinger from Nolan!
