For the second time this season, the Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates have had a game postponed because of inclement weather.
After an inning of play and a rain delay of more than three hours, today's game was called off with no makeup date announced. Making the game up tomorrow, an off day for both teams, remains a possibility.
The two teams also had a game in Colorado postponed on April 28, which will be made up June 9.
Colorado had taken the early lead on the Pirates before the rain when shortstop Cristhian Adames doubled against Pittsburgh starter Juan Nicasio and came home to score on a Nolan Arenado triple. Chad Bettis then worked a clean inning on just eight pitches before the umpires called for the delay.
Unfortunately, none of that will count now that the game has been washed out, though bringing Bettis back for a start during the Rockies' upcoming series in Boston is a possibility.
UPDATE: The Rockies and Pirates will make up today's game at 10:35 a.m. Mountain time tomorrow at PNC Park. Jordan Lyles will be on the mound for the Rockies while Pittsburgh gives the ball to Ryan Vogelsong.
