Among Rockies pitching prospects Ryan Castellani (No. 19 PuRP) has had a comparatively quiet season. He wasn't in the spotlight as much as some of the more heralded arms were coming into the season, while others have had brilliant starts to their seasons with numbers eye popping enough to earn them promotions. And yet, Castellani continues to plug away, with "just" a 3.08 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 52-17 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 49⅔ innings.
He kept dealing tonight, allowing two runs on three hits in seven innings. He did strikeout five on the strength of a fastball that was sitting 91-94 mph with hard arm side run and a slider at 83-87 mph with some crazy movement as well. The movement was a double edged sword Wednesday night, though. Ryan walked four as hitters were content to let pitches move out of the strike zone rather than try to swing at it.
He told Purple Row's Bobby DeMuro he's aware of some of these issues so keep an eye on Castellani to see how he adjusts his approach to better stifle hitters in the California League. Check out video of him pitching on the Purple Row YouTube channel (videos from Wednesday night will be posted soon!).

Isotopes Blow Away Storm Chasers with 12-4 Win - Albuquerque Isotopes News
Harrison Musgrave bounced back admirably after giving up six runs in six innings in his Triple-AABQ debut last week. This time, staked to a lead, he was able to show a little more of what earned him the midseason promotion in the first place. He allowed just five hits and two walks with four strikeouts over seven innings. He is having trouble keeping the ball in the yard, though; in 13 innings he's given up six home runs.
