The Colorado Rockies pitchers and catchers will have their first spring training workout this year on February 14, according to Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com. Most likely, this means that they will report to camp on the 12th and have their physicals on the 13th. If the report date seems a bit early this year, it’s due to the World Baseball Classic. (The WBC should also mean different start dates for players participating.)
Position players should report on February 19 and the first full workout will take place on February 20, except for players involved in the WBC. Position players that are participating in the WBC will probably report earlier in order to start getting ready for the tournament.
Last year, the Rockies pitchers and catchers didn’t report until February 19 with the position players reporting on February 25.
The Rockies have already released their spring training game schedule, with their first game at Salt River Fields against the Arizona Diamondbacks on February 25.
