Saturday Morning Rockpile:

The Rockies supposedly are slowly inching to a point where they can actually hold starting pitchers accountable for their performances, as Jorge de la Rosa is purportedly on the hot seat as far as his starter's job is concerned, and Mark Redman was designated for assignment yesterday. Oddly enough, the only reason that the leverage has shifted this way is because Glendon Rusch, of all people, has actually stepped up and performed for all of two straight starts. It seems a precarious spot, to me, for the team to be in to be depending on Rusch to be the rotational whip given his recent history before the last two weeks.

Really, I'm looking for the huge difference between the two, and it seems like a half dozen of one for six of another.

Redman's days on the MLB to AAA yo-yo, and thereby with the Rockies franchise, are apparently over, as he isn't expected to accept a minor league assignment this time around. As with all the members of the team that won our first NL pennant last season, Redman will always have my gratitude for his services rendered then, even if I'm not necessarily heartbroken to see him go.
