Sunday Morning Rockpile:
Ubaldo Jimenez beat his childhood hero, Pedro Martinez, last night:
"He's been my hero ever since I was little," Jimenez said. "I loved the way he pitched; I tried to never miss his games. He was aggressive and you could just see it in his face. It didn't matter who he faced, he was going to get them out."
And in beating his hero, Jimenez not only won his first game since April 8, but he also pushed the Rockies back out of last place and into a tie for third place with the Giants. The Giants lost to our next opponent, the Royals, last night. The Giants send TIm Lincecum to the mound to oppose the Royals' Kyle Davies. Winner takes the series.
Troy Renck mentions that Cedrick Bowers will be considered for a call-up this week when the Rockies look to add a left-hander. At this point, we've already seen what the others have done for the Rockies (Rusch, Redman, and Bowie), so taking a look at Bowers may not be a bad thing. There's also a quote there from Dan O'Dowd about Franklin Morales:
"Franklin's not even on the radar right now," Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd said. "He can't help us right now. And he might not be able to help us this season."
Todd Helton believes he's over "a little issue" he had, and Kip Wells pitched in a simulated game yesterday in preparation for a rehab start later this week.
Clint Hurdle still wants Willie Randolph coaching in the All-Star Game after the Mets fired him.

Sunday Morning Rockpile:
Hello, June. Good bye, 9-19 May. Nothing like the start of a new month to hopefully win a game.
And on this first day of June, Woody Paige and Mark Kiszla decided to have a debate on the merits of trading Matt Holliday before July's trade deadline. Paige believes the "Skid Rox" should trade Holliday and lists eleven possible destinations. Two of those are Clevelan (for C.C. Sabathia) and San Francisco (for Tim Lincecum). Mark Kiszla doesn't believe that's possible:
But do you really believe a Holliday fire sale is going to land the Rockies a stud pitcher such as Cleveland's C.C. Sabathia or Tim Lincecum from San Francisco? Dream on. Only a sucker who thought the Rockies were a better team than the Red Sox might believe Holliday would bring equal value in trade. Even if the Rockies could land C.C. Sabathia, does anyone seriously believe, as Paige does, that the Monforts would "get over the Hampton/Neagle debacle" and give Sabathia the money he wants? Ubaldo Jimenez faces Sean Gallagher in a few hours.

Tuesday Morning Rockplie:
Apparently, someone threw a no-hitter last night. Eh . . . the Rockies won their third game in a row! The Rocky Mountain News has a good picture of Q starting the double play right before he fell hard to the ground. But Q's a gamer, as we mentioned last night, and stayed in the game. As Q said after the game:
"I could see him coming out of the corner of my eye, so I knew I was going to wear it," Quintanilla said. "I am a tough player. It whiplashed me, pinched my neck and back a little bit, and now my foot hurts. But we needed the out there."
And what a big out it was. Jeff Baker, who Q came in for later in the game, also deserves some praise for his defense last night when he made the throw to home to get Aaron Rowand out just after Jose Castillo struck out swinging.
It's been three in a row for the Rockies, so why not put Aaron Cook back on the winning track when they go for four straight tonight? After a less than desirable performance against the D'Backs on May 15, Aaron Cook will face Tim Lincecum tonight. Cook last faced the Giants on April 29. Lincecum's only loss this season so far came in that contest. That was the game we saw Chris Iannetta play third and Garrett Atkins second. Guess that won't happen this time--no Tulo to get injured this time.
Speaking of him, Tulo has begun taking part in light workouts, but still has a long way to go on the road to recovery. So, while out guy starts his way back to the game action, the Padres' Jake Peavy is about to go on the DL today for a troublesome elbow and may be out for six weeks.
Those maple bats are dangerous.
