Friday Morning Rockpile:

After yesterday's start, it appears Jorge De La Rosa won't be back in the rotation once the second half of the season starts. De La Rosa will give way to Kip Wells, who still has two more rehab starts to make. Farther down on the article, Franklin Morales and Jason Hirsh are mentioned, but the possiblity of either pitching for the Rockies any time soon appears remote.

Aaron Cook and his family will add a baby girl in late July.

In a look at which teams have interest in which Rockies, Tracy Ringolsby's column mentions that Juan Morillo, Ryan Mattheus, and Casey Weathers are possible call-ups should some team trade for Matt Herges.

Mark Kiszla. Matt Holliday. New York. Scale of 1-10. Yankees at 11. Or something.

Tuesday Pebble Report

Colorado Springs, L 2-4 - Not much was done offensively last night, but Seth Smith had two hits (his double being the only extra-base hit for the Sky Sox). Glendon Rusch allowed four runs and walked four in 4 2/3 innings. Half of those runs came on a third inning home run. Cedrick Bowers, Juan Morillo, and Josh Newman held Tacoma to one hit (Bowers) and two walks (Morillo) over the final 3 1/3 innings. Newman struck out three.

Tulsa, W 4-3 in 11 innings - David Parrish's first homer was an important one since he hit it in the top of the 11th to give Tulsa the lead. Earlier in the game, Dexter Fowler had three singles and an RBI, Eric Young Jr. had two singles and an RBI, and Tony Blanco hit his 14th homer.

Chaz Roe went six innings, allowed two runs, and walked three. Ryan Mattheus, Adam Bright, and Darren Clarke held San Antonio to two hits over the next two innings. Jarrett Grube held San Antonio to a hit over the final two innings.

Modesto, L 4-5 in 10 innings - Mike McKenry went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and Jay Cox had a solo homer (3) in th eighth inning to tie the game at four. Brandon Durden started the game, went four innings, and allowed foru runs on a solo homer and a three-run sho. Chris Malone struck out four over his three innigs of relief.

David Patton took the loss after pitching 2 2/3 innings. Michael Massaro, the leadoff batter for the inning, reached base on a single and then advanced to second on a throwing error by Patton on the pickoff attempt. After a strikeout, the next batter appeared to single in Massaro, but Anthony Jackson gunned him down with his throw to McKenry at the plate. The batter advanced to second and scored on a single by the next batter.

Asheville, W 9-3 - Robinson Fabian went six string innings, allowing only two runs. Joey Williamson pitched the final three innings to pick up his first save. He allowed one run on a homer and struck out three.

Casper - Off.

Sunday Pebble Report

Colorado Springs, L 2-7 - Ian Stewart hit his 15th homer. Franklin Morales allowed six runs and walked five in 5 1/3 innings. Two of the six runs scored as inherited runners after Matt Daley relieved. Morales had two errors on pickoff attempts.

Tulsa, L 3-9 - Todd Ritchie allowed eight runs in 5 2/3 IP, Casey Weathers struck out one in his one inning of work, and Eddie Cornejo hit a two-run homer.

Modesto, W 7-4 - Travis Becktel had a three-run triple in the eight as part of a five-run inning for the Nuts. Entering that inning, the Nuts had been trailing 2-5 to San Jose. Nelson Robledo had a sac fly earlier in the inning, and Anthony Jackson scored Becktel on a bunt ground hit immediately after Becktel's triple.

Aneury Rodriguez allowed four runs over 4 2/3 innings, but Tommy Baumgardner, Will Harris, and Andrew Johnston held San Jose scoreless over the final 4 1/3 innings. Johnston did walk two on his way to his 15th save.

Jhoulys Chacin will make his first start for Modesto on Tuesday, and here's Sunday's Q&A with Jason Van Kooten.

Asheville, L 1-4 - Mike Mitchell's double was one of three hits by the Tourists. He also stole two bases, with 33 for the season. Helder Velazquez racked up his 23rd error, while Darin Holcomb had his 10th and Cory Riordan his third. Riordan ("pitching with a sizeable blister on his middle finger") went 7 2/3 innings, allowed all four runs (three earned), and struck out four.

Tri-City, L 5-7 - Kenny Durst failed to make it out of the fourth, allowing six runs in 3 1/3 innings. Andy Groves allowed one more runs and three hits, but Jeff Murphy, and Carlos Luna held Spokane hitless over the final three innings. Austin Rauch had a double, a triple, and an RBI.

Casper, W 10-7 in 13 innings - Jeff Fischer still can't record his first pro victory. Casper pitchers blew the game three times. A 3-2 game in favor of Casper, Fischer left the game in the seventh with two men on and one out to go. Adam Jorgenson came in and saw both runners score. One scored on Jorgenson's wild pitch and the other scored on double (after the runner moved to third on a passed ball by Wilin Rosario). After Zack Murry doubled and scored on a Shane Lowe triple in the eighth, the score remained the same until the 10th. Casper scored a run, but Isaiah Froneberger gave it right back on a wild pitch. In the 11th, Mike Zuanich drove in Wilin Rosario on a double, and Zack Murry tipled in Zuanich. Yes, Casper blew the game again. Juan Rodriguez allowed a single and a walk in the 11th before Kyle Walker relieved him. Walker walked the bases loaded and then allowed a run on another walk. The second run came on a sac fly. After no runs scored in the 12th, Casper scored three on a double, a wild pitch, and a single in the 13th.

Ronny Lopez pitched the final two innings to pick up his first win. Andres Marrero struck out four between the eighth and ninth innings. Zack Murry went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, a double, a triple, and an RBI. Carlos Martinez and Wilin Rosario each had three hits in seven ABs.

Sunday Pebble Report

Colorado Springs, W 8-4 - Franklin Morales went up against the Angels' Nick Adenhart and both came up short. Adenhart allowed eight runs in 4 2/3 IP and Morales saw four runs in four innings. Morales walked four. Cedrick Bowers (3 IP, 2 H, 2 BB), Josh Newman (1 IP), and Matt Daley (1 IP, 1 H) held Salt Lake scoreless after Morales left the game. Salt Lake's bullpen also did the same once Adenhart exited.

Jayson Nix hit his seventh home run to start the bottom of the first inning. Three more runs scored on a bunch of singles and a ground out. One of those singles was by Matt Holliday, who went 4-for-4 with a two-run double in the fourth inning. Christian Colonel had an RBI double (16) an inning earlier, scoring Matt Holliday.

Tulsa, L 5-8 - Chaz Roe had mixed results in his first start for Tulsa. He went six innings and struck out seven. He allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks. Half of the hits went for doubles. The first three frames saw only one opposing batter reach base (on a walk). Roe, however, did not factor into the decision. Aaron Fultz came up empty again after entering a 5-5 game in the eighth. He allowed a homer to the first batter he faced. Casey Weathers allowed two runs in the top of the ninth.

Dexter Fowler (6) and Matt Miller (7) both had solo shots as part of their 2-for-4, two RBI night. They both scored twice, and Fowler had an RBI triple (5). Eric Young Jr. stole his 13th base. Daniel Carte received an outfield assist on a throw to home plate, but Neil Wilson erred on the catch.

Modesto, L 5-10 - Brian VanderBeek narrates the brawl that erupted between the Nuts and the Ports last night (plus news that Modesto will be part of the Rockies organization through 2010). Before that, it wasn't a good night for Aneury Rodriguez. The Ports' five-run second inning was quite troublesome. The damage was done only by singles, a couple of walks, and a fielding error. Rodriguez allowed four more runs over the next three innings before hitting Matt Sulentic and the start of the brawl. Tommy Baumgardner allowed one run and walked three in the next three innings. Andy Graham and Simon Ferrer had clean innings in the eighth and ninth to end the game.

Victor Ferrante had a three-run homer (5).

Brian VanderBeek's interview with Shane Lindsay is up.

Asheville, L 3-7 - Things started off well for the Tourists with three runs in the first. Jeff Cunningham hit a two-run homer, his twelfth of  the season, and Helder Velazquez doubled in Darin Holcomb. Holcomb (24) and Mitchell (15) both had doubles that inning also. Five more hits came but no runs. Kevin Clark also had a double (14). Velazquez had a fielding and throwing error, Cunningham only a fielding one.

Cory Riordan took his fourth loss after pitching three batters into the seventh inning without recording an out. He allowed seven runs (three earned) on seven hits (one being a three-run homer) and two walks. He struck out five.

Tuesday Pebble Report

Colorado Springs, W 10-9 - The Sky Sox won this game after Roy Corcoran hit Sean Barker with the bases loaded. Jayson Nix scored the winning run. The Sky Sox were actually entered the inning with eight runs, but a Chris Frey triple and a Christian Colonel RBI single to score Frey tied the game. In the third inning, Doug Bernier had an RBI triple, Frey had an RBI single, and Jayson Nix followed those two with an RBI double. In the eighth, Colonel doubled in Frey and Nix, Edwin Bellorin singled in Colonel and Joe Koshansky, and Rick Guarno had a sac fly.

Josh Towers went six innings, allowed six runs on 13 hits, and struck out five. Steven Register picked up his third win after allowing the go-ahead run at the time in the top of the ninth.

Tulsa, L 6-17 - Matt Miller (6) and Jeff Dragicevich (7) each had a homer, and Daniel Carte and Justin Nelson drove in two runs each.

Tomas Santiago allowed five runs in 3 1/3 IP; Jonathan George saw five runs cross the plate in 1 2/3 IP; and Luis Gonazlez witnessed six men cross the plate in 1 1/3 IP (he also walked four). Two of Gonzalez's runs crossed home when Casey Weathers came in. Weathers allowed those two runs to score and was charged with one run for himself in 2/3 IP. He struck out two. Duke Sardinha, a first baseman, pitched the last inning, allowing only a hit. Of the 17 runs scored, 10 of them were driven in by Midland's Tommy Everidge on two three-run homers and a grand slam. "Power of the mustache," former Rockies' farmhand Joe Gaetti says.

Santiago and manager Stu Cole were ejected in the fourth inning. Santiago hit a batter and then threw a pitch over the head of the next batter, being ejected for that. Cole was tossed right after that.

Modesto, L 0-4 - Victor Ferrante hit his eighth double and Geoff Strickland stole his 14th base. The Nuts managed only six hits.

After a two singles and a sac fly in the first, Esmil Rogers shutdown the Visalia Oaks between the second and seventh innings. He didn't allow a hit or any base runners. In the eighth he allowed a leadoff double, that runner scoring on a homer two batters later. A second double scored the third run of the inning. Rogers went 7 2/3 innings, allowed four runs on six hits, and struck out four.

Asheville, W 9-5 - Jhoulys Chacin put in another great performance: 8 IP, 7 H, 2/1 R/ER, 1 BB, 9 K. Andy Groves started the ninth, allowed three hits and three walks, and saw three men cross home plate. Randall Taylor came in with two outs and the bases loaded to record his 15th save.

Jeff Cunningham led the offense last night with two homers (10), a three-run and a two-run. That accounted for five of his six RBI. The other one came in a bases-loaded walk in the fifth. Darin Holcomb had an RBI single and an RBI walk, which came in the fifth after Holcomb's. Brian Rike had an RBI sacrifice double play. Mike Mitchell scored, but Jeff Cunningham also attempted to tag up and was thrown out at third. Everth Cabrera stole his 32nd base.

Friday Pebble Report

Colorado Springs, L 2-6 - 2B, GO, BB, K (backwards), BB, Mound Visit, HBP (Eric Chavez scores), Grand Slam, BB, 1B, GO. That was Franklin Morales' first inning. He hit a second batter the next inning, his final inning. Valerio De Los Santos went the next five innings, limited Sacramento to one hit, and struck out nine. Chris George walked four in 2/3 IP.

Starting shortstop Doug Bernier was thrown out of the game for arguing his strike out in the top of the third, along with manager Tom Runnells. Eduardo Cornejo replaced Bernier and had a two-run single in the fourth to score the Springs' only runs on the night.

Tulsa, L 5-7 - Alan Johnson couldn't complete six innings as he was pulled after 5 2/3 IP. He allowed four runs on five hits and two walks. Adam Bright also allowed five hits in his 1 1/3 IP (3/2 R/ER). Casey Weathers pitched an inning, walked three and struck out three. Weathers started the eighth inning with back-to-back swinging strike outs, but then issued three straight walks (a wild pitch happened in between the second and third ones). Weathers escaped that jam by recording a swinging strike out to end the inning.

Tony Blanco hit his sixth home run for Tulsa. Jeff Kindel drove in two runs on a single in the first, as did Jeff Dragicevich. Daniel Carte had two hits and stole his third base. Dexter Fowler stole his 12th base to go along with his one hit.

Modesto, L 7-17 - Chaz Roe made his season debut, and it wasn't pretty. He allowed six runs in the first inning. That inning started with five straight singles, followed by a double, and then a triple. The next three batters went down to end the inning. He allowed two doubles in the second before settling down with back-to-back 1-2-3 innings in the third and fourth.

The pitcher had something to say on that inning after the game:

"The fastball was flat in the first inning and I left a few of them up," said Roe, who started 29 games for Modesto in 2007. "They didn't hit it that hard, and after that first inning I settled down and started getting the ball down."

He'll make one more start before heading to Tulsa, according to the article. Overall, Roe allowed 12 runs (seven earned) in 5 2/3 IP. Brandon Durden allowed five runs (two earned) in 1 IP. Simon Ferrer pitched a scoreless ninth.

There were six errors, two each by Daniel Mayora and Geoff Strickland and one each by Matt Repec and Anthony Jackson.

Every starter recorded at least one hit. Jay Cox led the charge with three and two RBI. Strickland and Mayora also drove in two each. Mayora also walked twice. Mike McKenry drove in the other run on a double.

Asheville, L4-6 - Cory Riordan lasted only three innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on eight hits and a walk. He struck out four. The bullpen held Rome to two hits over the last six innings. Joey Williamson pitched the three innings after Riordan came out and struck out four. Matthew Reynolds and Edgmer Escalona allowed a hit each, but no runs.

The  four runs were driven in by the first four batters. Everth Cabrera had double in three ABs, scored twice, walked twice, and stole his 29th base. Mike Mitchell collected three hits in five ABs and stole his 26th base. Brian Rike had two hits and stole his 10th base. Darin Holcomb drove in his run on a ground out.

Tuesday Pebble Report

Colorado Springs, L 2-3 - Ian Stewart had an RBI triple in the sixth to bring the game to a 2-2 tie. Seth Smith and Sean Barker each had two-hit night. Smith also had an outfield assist to get the out at second in the second.

John Koronka went six innings and allowed the third run in the bottom of the sixth, giving Sacramento the eventual win. He gave up nine hits and walked four. Chris George pitched the last two innings and struck out two.

Tulsa, L 4-6 - Xavier Cedeno went 3 1/3 IP last night, allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks. Jarrett Grube closed out the fourth inning before giving way to Edward Valdez. He pitched the next two innings and struck out three. Casey Weathers pitched an inning and struck out one. Ryan Mattheus allowed an unearned run in the eighth inning.

Dexter Fowler had two hits and an RBI. Justin Nelson and Jeff Kindel each had three hits, though Nelson wound up with his fifth homer for one of those hits. Tony Blanco and Xavier Cedeno each drove in a run (and committed errors). Corey Wimberly had the other error for the Drillers and stole his 18th base.

Modesto, W 11-9 - Cole Garner left the game during the top of the second inning after being hit by a pitch. Starting that inning, the Nuts scored in four consecutive innings. Matt  Repec double in two in the second, a Mike Paulk force out and a Mike McKenry single added two more runs in the third, Nelson Robledo's first homer and Daniel Mayora's double in the fourth saw two more added to the scoreboard, and Mike McKenry's singled in Geoff Strickland (who reached on a triple) in the fifth.

The eighth inning saw four more runs scored to give the Nuts the lead after being down 9-7 entering the inning. A Victor Ferrante RBI single, a Mike McKenry bases loaded walk, and a Matt Repec two-run single put the Nuts ahead 11-9.

To make things a bit clearer, McKenry drove in three runs and Repec four.

Shane Lindsay went only three innings last night. He allowed eight runs, but only three earned. Five runs came in the second inning: one on a double, two on two singles, two on a triple, and a steal of home. He allowed a three-run homer the next inning. David Patton, Andy Graham, and Andrew Johnston each threw two innings. Johnston picked up his ninth saved and still has not allowed an earned run this season in 18 IP.

Asheville, W 9-3 - The Tourists felt like scoring late in order come out with the win. The seventh inning saw Helder Velazquez hit a triple to score David Christensen, which was immediately followed by a Beau Seabury RBI double. Mike Mitchell drove in Seabury after Everth Cabrera walked. Cabrera (26) and Mitchell (15) pulled off the double steal, but neither scored.

The Tourists were up 3-2 at this point and things went wild in the top of the ninth. After Velazquez led off the inning with a single, Beau Seabury put down a sac bunt, but wound up reaching base on a fielding error by the pitcher. Cabrera put down a sac bunt and moved the runners over to second and third. Mike Mitchell was intentionally walked to load the bases. Jeff Cunningham then walked, scoring Velazquez. With Darin Holcomb at the plate, the opposing pitcher balked in Seabury, which, I assume, led to the opposing manager being thrown out of the game for arguing the call. Holcomb got out, but Kevin Clark singled in Mitchell. A pitching change was made before David Christensen batted. Christensen then hit a three-run homer, his third on the season.

Bruce Billings went seven innings and allowed two runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out four. Craig Baker pitched a clean eighth inning.

Friday Pebble Report

Colorado Springs, W 11-5 - Ian Stewart hit his 10th and 11th homers, his fifth and sixth on the road. The second one came in the eighth inning and was a grand slam. Jayson Nix had a solo homer in the first inning. Joe Koshansky hit his seventh in the third inning. Cory Sullivan drove in two runs, and Seth Smith had his second triple of the season and stole his ninth base.

Cedrick Bowers held Fresno to two hits in five innings. He struck out eight. Victor Zambrano allowed three runs in 2/3 IP. Juan Morillo pitched a clean ninth inning.

Tulsa, L 4-6 in 12 innings - Justin Nelson had his fourth homer of the season in this extra-inning affair, but it came in the fifth inning. Corey Wimberly went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two stolen bases (16). Matt Miller drove in two runs. Chris Nelson had his 16th error of the season.  The Tulsa World can tell you how the Drillers failed to win in the ninth, and how the game ended in the 12th.

Tomas Santiago didn't find the strike zone, as he walked six. He allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits in 5 1/3 IP. Casey Weathers walked two but did not allow a run in his one inning of work. Ryan Mattheus struck out two in the ninth.

Modesto, L 2-8 - Esmil Rogers allowed eight runs in four innings. He allowed seven hits, walked three, and struck out six. Tommy Baumgardner and Will Harris held San Jose hitless for the next three innings, while Andrew Johnston allowed the only hit after Rogers left the game.

Matt Repec and Travis Becktel had two hits each, but Victor Ferrante had a double, the only extra-base hit. He also walked twice. Cole Garner had the other hit.

Asheville, L 3-4 - Jeff Cunningham's two-run double and Brian Lapin's RBI single in the sixth inning put the Tourists ahead 3-1, but it was not to last. A bunch of singles and a fielding error by Brian Lapin in the bottom of the inning put Savannah ahead for good with a one-run lead. David Christensen had two hits and stole his sixth base, Brian Rike stole his ninth base, and Everth Cabrera swiped his 20th base. Cabrera also struck out three times, but Beau Seabury struck out in all four ABs.

In addition to Lapin's error, starter Sheng-An Kuo, Warren Schaeffer, and Jeff Cunningham each committed and error.

Sheng-An Kuo allowed four runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks in 5 1/3 IP. Edgmer Escalona pitched a scoreless 2 2/3 innings.

Tuesday Pebble Report

Colorado Springs, L 8- 13 - . . . And the next night, the Sky Sox allowed their opponent to score in seven of nine innings. Albuquerque scored at least one run in each of the first seven innings of the game. Valerio De Los Santos allowed nine of those runs in 4 1/3 IP. Matt Daley finished the fifth and allowed one of the two inherited runners from De Los Santos to score. Juan Morillo allowed three runs in the sixth inning. Victor Zambrano allowed the last run (unearned, it was), went two innings, and struck out three. Josh Newman pitched the last inning for the Sky Sox and struck out one.

It was a night for doubles as Cory Sullivan (3-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 SB), Seth Smith (2-for-5, 1 RBI), and Rick Guarno (2-for-5, 1 RBI) each had two doubles. Ian Stewart hit his fifth triple and drove in a run.

Tulsa, W 7-3 - Monday was a good night for both Chris Nelson and Neil Wilson. Nelson started the night with a two-run homer (3) in the first inning (he also had a sac fly in the seventh), and Wilson banged a three-run homer (1) in the seventh inning to make it 7-2 game in favor of the Drillers. Tony Blanco hit his first homer for the Drillers to complete the scoring. It was also a good night for Dexter Fowler. He had a bunt single in the first (and scored on Nelson's homer), and then tripled (4) in the seventh (and scored on Nelson's sac fly).

Brandon Hynick turned in seven solid innings. He allowed two runs on eight hits (one run came off a homer). He walked one and struck out two. Casey Weathers allowed one run on two hits and a walk in the eighth inning. He struck out two.

Modesto, L 0-4 - Victor Ferrante and Cole Garner both had three hits in four at-bats last night. One of Ferrante's hits went for his fifth double.

Simon Ferrer allowed four runs on eights and  four walks in five innings. He also struck out three. Brandon Durden pitched the last three innings and did not allow a base runner.

Asheville, W 3-2 - The sixth inning was the decisive once in last night's contest. In the top half of the inning, Beau Seabury and Everth Cabrera led off the inning with walks. Mike Mitchell put down a sac bunt, but made it to first after catcher Jordan Abruzzo committed a throwing error. Brian Rike and Darin Holcomb got out in the next two ABs. Jeff Cunningham hit a three-run triple to give the Tourists the 3-0 lead. Brian lapin hit a triple in the ninth, but nothing came of it.

In the bottom of the sixth, Cory Riordan allowed a lead off triple, and that guy scored on a double in the next AB. A sac fly scored the second run that inning. That was all Savannah was able to score. Riordan wound up going 7 2/3 innings and allowed those two runs on six hits. He also struck out six. Craig Rodriguez struck out the one batter he faced to end the eighth inning. Randall Taylor picked up his 10th save.

Friday Pebble Report

Colorad Springs, W 8-4 - Joe Koshansky drove in five runs last night, and only one came by the way of a home run. In the first inning, he drove in Juan Castro and Ian Stewart (both reached on walks) on a single. He doubled in Stewart and Sean Barker in the third, and then homered in the sixth. Barker went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

John Koronka went 5 2/3 innings and allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits. Matt Daley allowed two hits in 2 1/3 IP. Steven Register had a clean ninth inning.

Tulsa, W 7-0, L 3-9 - The first game saw Dexter Fowler hit his fourth homer, a a three-run shot. Matt Miller added two RBI, and Corey Wimberly and Tony Blanco had one each. Blanco and Chris Nelson had the other extra-base hits for the Drillers, both doubles. Nelson stole his fourth base.

Ching-Lung Lo beat Arkansas in a seven-inning, two-hit, complete game shutout. He walked two and struck out two.

The second game wasn't as nice for Tulsa pitching. Five errors contributed to the score. Jon George and Luis Gonzalez combined to allow eight runs, but only three were earned. George had a throwing error, and Duke Sardinha, Jeff Dragicevich, Tony Blanco, and Luis Gonzalez committed fielding errors. Casey Weathers pitched a clean ninth.

Jeff Dragicevich had a two-run homer and Dexter Fowler followed his fourth homer in the first game with his fifth in the second game. Jeff Kindel had two hits.

Modesto, L 3-7 - Keith Weiser went only 4 2/3 innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on nine hits and a walk. He struck out five. According to his manager, the defense led to some of Weiser's troubles:

"Weiser was outstanding," Weinstein said. "In the first inning, we have to make some plays behind him, and in the second inning, we have to make a play. It could have been 3-0 in our favor into the fifth. He had to throw a lot of pitches because we didn't do a very good job defensively."

Daniel Mayora had an error in the third and fifth innings while Geoff Strickland had the other in the fifth inning. In his blog entry for the game, Brian VanderBeek writes that there were a few other plays on defense that should have been made (we also find out that Hector Gomez is progressing in Tucson). In the seventh inning, Will Harris allowed  four straight singles with two runs scoring on the fourth one. Andy Graham, James Burok, and Brandon Durden combined to allow two hits in 3 1/3 IP.

Cole Garner singled in Nick Haley in the first, which tied the game. Entering the bottom of the fourth, the Nuts were down by two, but a Victor Ferrante (who tripled to start the inning) scored when Matt Repec reached second base on a fielder's choice and an error. Anthony Jackson then scored Repec a little while later. The game was tied at three, but it wouldn't last for long.

Asheville, L 6-7 in 13 innings - Down four to nothing in the bottom of the sixth, Darin Holcomb hit his seventh homer to bring the score within one run. In the bottom of the ninth, Jeff Cunningham hit his sixth homer to send the game into extra innings. Fast forward to the bottom of the 12th, the Tourists are down two runs. Mike Mitchell doubled before Brian Rike came to bat. Rike hit his eighth homer, tying the game at six. Randall Taylor came in to start the 13th and promptly allowed a homer to the first batter he faced. There were no heroics in the bottom of that inning.

Mike Mitchell had four hits in the game, Helder Velazquez stole his second base of the season, and Kevin Clark stole second and third in the sixth (but did not score).

Bruce Billings went five innings, allowed four runs on nine hits, and struck out seven. Joey Williamson, Matt Reynolds, and Craig Baker held Charleston to one hit, two walks, and no runs over 4 2/3 IP.  Craig Rodriguez allowed two runs on three hits and three walks in 2 1/3 IP.
