San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Luis Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored as the San Diego Padres routed the Colorado Rockies, 9-4, in the second of three games at Petco Park. Brian Giles, Will Venable and Edgar Gonzalez each drove in a pair of runs for the Padres, who have won four of their last five games. Josh Geer (1-0) made his MLB debut and got the win as he gave up just two runs on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts in five innings of work. He also drove in a run. "I felt really good," said Geer. "My adrenaline was pumping at the start, but after that I settled down a bit. Early on I was nit-picking with the corners and not throwing many strikes. I was getting behind in the count. But as the game went on I settled down and felt good." Clint Barmes went 3-for-5 with three RBI and Ubaldo Jimenez (9-12) was banged up for six runs on two hits with five walks in 3 2/3 innings of work for the Rockies, who have dropped two of three. "I think he (Jimenez) got away from his fastball and then he really tried to go back to his fastball and it seemed like he tried to crank it and overthrew it," said Colorado manager Clint Hurdle. "We didn't have the recipe to win this game on either side of the ball." San Diego only had one man on base through the first three innings, but exploded for six runs in the fourth to take the lead. With the bases loaded, Venable singled to bring home Rodriguez and Edgar Gonzalez then drove in a run with a ground out. Back-to-back walks to Nick Hundley and Geer brought in another run and Glendon Rusch then took over for Jimenez. Giles greeted Rusch with a two-run single and Rodriguez followed with a single to plate Geer for a 6-2 lead. The Padres padded their lead in the seventh. With men on first and second, Adrian Gonzalez singled to left to bring home Giles. After Chase Headley was hit with a pitch to load the bases, Venable grounded out to bring home Rodriguez. Edgar Gonzalez then singled to right to bring home Adrian Gonzalez for a 9-2 lead. Barmes' two-run triple in the ninth accounted for the final score. Colorado jumped on top in the second inning with a pair of runs. With men on first and second, Barmes singled to left to bring home Chris Iannetta.
