Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Seattle Mariners have activated pitcher Carlos Silva off the 15-day disabled list to start Monday's game against Texas. Silva had been sidelined since August 16 with biceps tendinitis in his right elbow. He is scheduled to make his first start since August 15 when Minnesota blasted him for nine earned runs in just 3 1/3 innings. The veteran right-hander enters Monday's action with a record of just 4-14 and an earned run average of 6.36 in 25 starts. With the September expansion of rosters, the Mariners also selected the contracts of pitcher Justin Thomas and infielder Luis Valbuena from Triple-A Tacoma. Thomas was 9-8 with a 4.31 ERA in 32 games, including nine starts, with Tacoma and Double-A West Tennessee this season. The 24-year-old left-hander was Seattle's fourth-round pick in the 2005 draft. Valbuena also split the season between Tacoma and West Tennessee, combining to hit .301 with 83 runs scored, 11 homers and 60 RBI in 126 games. The Mariners also transferred utilityman Mike Morse from the 15-day to the 60- day disabled list. Morse has been sidelined since April 29 with a separated right shoulder.
