Sports Network | October 30, 2008

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Mets re-signed third baseman/outfielder Fernando Tatis to a one-year contract Thursday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Tatis, the National League Comeback Player of the Year in 2008, hit .297 with 11 homers and 47 RBI for the Mets. He separated his shoulder in a game against the Nationals on September 16, ending his season.

The 33-year-old played in 92 games in 2008 after appearing in only 28 games from 2004-2007. In nine seasons with the Rangers, Cardinals, Expos, Orioles and Mets, Tatis has compiled a .264 average with 103 homers and 394 RBI in 783 games.
