Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - The Toronto Blue Jays on Friday exercised the team option on catcher Rod Barajas for 2009.
Barajas, 33, hit for a .249 average, 11 homers and 49 RBI in 104 games last season for Toronto. He threw out 17 of 59 baserunners attempting to steal for a 28.8 percent success rate.
A 10-year veteran, Barajas has played for Arizona, Texas, Philadelphia and Toronto. He is a career .241 hitter with 73 home runs and 284 RBI.
