Orioles hire former Reds GM Krivsky as a special assistant

Sports Network | November 26, 2008

Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles hired Wayne Krivsky as a special assistant to the president of baseball operations on Wednesday .

Krivsky, who brings over 30 years of baseball experience with him, most recently served as a special assistant to New York Mets general manager Omar Minaya. Prior to that, he had spent over two years as executive vice president and general manager of the Cincinnati Reds.

The 54-year-old Krivsky started his career in January 1977 in the ticket department of the Texas Rangers and was eventually promoted to assistant general manager of the team in 1980. He worked in that capacity until leaving for the Minnesota Twins organization in December 1994.

Krivsky spent just over eight years as assistant general manager of the Twins, before being hired as the Reds' GM in 2006. He was then fired this past April after a 9-13 start.
