Well this is for sure...
- Tune out ESPN.
- Not go to ANY baseball website, except this and roxhead.
- Try to not snap on people about this game.
Beckett did what he always does, I'm not surprised that we've only scored 1. Our pitching fell apart tonight, which I feel is correctable.
Very well
If this continues tomorrow, then I'm really going to get riled up... you haven't seen nothing yet.
you and me both.
I don't expect this to fly with Hurdle, or any of the Rockies for that matter. We've seen some bad things this year, and we've seen how the Rox respond.
Two-out baserunners!

Oh I hope this goes 6 or 7 games...
That would cap this amazing run we've had.
Screw the hometown fans at Coors. Half of them are bandwagon fans and the other half are rich stupids who can afford to pay 500 a ticket.
Let the real Rox fans relish in shutting up Boston.

I don't recommend any major sports site. That will set back the recovery, not aid it.
I've been tempted to look, but I've held back.
So a loss for the Rockies is much more than just a loss to these eastern media guys. It's a miracle to them.

I've learned one thing from the Media.
Using that logic....
Boston cannot continue to hit this way. 4 games straight of scoring these kinds of runs just can't continue.
Thanks media!
More painful positives!
This one I like.
K 6 runs per inning...
I'm almost on the verge about laughing about this game. It just makes us underdogs even more.

So tomorrow
Buuuutt, this is only Game One. Let's regroup and be ready to kick some smug ass tomorrow. After all, we're not even supposed to be here, right? Boston wasn't even going to need 4 games, were they? In fact, last week, there wasn't even a team in, where was that again, Denver? Does anybawdy know wheh Denvah is?
Here we go, Rockies! Here we go!
Oh, you silly Rowers and your overflow threads.

They're phoning in this game now
Timlin could hit Holliday to speed that process.
I think it's time for Augie Ojeda
Great way to warm up after a long layoff.
Tough crowd, used to them now.
Big hitters, you know their potential.
What more could we need? This secret scouting game worked out well.
If I may...
- Taveras
- Tulo
- Holliday
- Hawpe
- Atikins
- Spilly.
- Helton
- Torrealba
- Matsui
Eh
Can't get too down.
Or maybe put one of the speed guys 7/8 and put Helton right behind him.
I was gonna say....

If Gagne gets us 1-2-3....
Never mind. Not worth it. That would just be symbolic of this crapstorm.
Exerpt from the Boston Herald...
There was an unusual moment Sunday night in Fenway. The Indians were slouching off the field after the bottom of their calamitous 8th inning, one which saw the game go from a 5-2 sweat-inducing grind to an 11-2 slaughter. Some slob in the grandstand above third base stood up and hollered, "Cleveland sucks!"
If he had yelled it about the Yankees, he would have ignited a chant. As it was, not a single one of the hundreds of fans who undoubtedly heard him uttered a word of agreement, and the guy simply sat down.
Instead, people were gazing at the morose Cleveland players walking toward the dugout as if they were each lugging a cross.
Some fans surely thought about the tens of thousands of spectators waving their silly little towels at Jacobs Field a few nights before, every one of them so full of hope.
That used to be us. The looks on their players' faces used to be the looks on ours.
No need to mock what we know better than anyone else.

it's the patronizing I hate
by jakester @ Purple Row on Oct 24, 2007 10:03 PM MDT up reply actions
And then
just curious
And out of curiosity, how does one team afford to pay all those high priced free agents? Could it be from fan financial support from all those fans that go to the "band box" that is Fenway Park? Since Coors has more seats than Fenway, dont you believe it possible for the Rox to garner the same level of support?
Or are there just not enough Rockie's fans out there?
ICKIMORE
P.S. Too bad you haven't seen the scouting report I sent over to Rox Girl on Tuesday.
by Ickimore on Oct 25, 2007 3:35 AM MDT up reply actions
Wrong 'patronizing'.
Oh... and to clarify,
Here are my thoughts
This can't be blamed on the umps, the weather, the layoff, or anything. No excuses, the Rockies got their butts whipped.
The Red Sox were better tonight. Much much much better. The media will be right to question the Rockies and whether they're World Series quality. Bias or not, the Rockies gave them no reason to question their assumptions.
The Rockies now get to decide whether they're happy to be here or if they actually want to win. Few would blame them for rolling over. They're in the JV circuit after all. Heck, even I (fairweather fan) would applaud their season if they lost all four games by increasingly awful scores. Sometimes you just get beat by a better team. Sometimes you get beat four times in a row by an equal or lesser team - it's the nature of baseball. The Rockies did get swept by the Royals, after all.
But something tells me we're not going to let this continue.
...WHAT A SECOND! Why are that yuppie from Philly's friends in Chicago carrying a sign that says "Go Bobcats"???

Howevaah, I was also at game 2 in Philly where Ka came through with the most ridiculously clutch hit of the postseason. And they looked bad in that game during the first couple of innings. But they are a resilient bunch. And I'd much rather lose to Boston in this fashion than some heartbreaker 2-1 to Beckett.
No worries, we have our secret weapon going tommorow. And maybe tix to game three will be cheaper on stubhub tommorow morning.

by Silverblood on Oct 24, 2007 11:06 PM MDT up reply actions
Wow, fiction...
The campus is beautiful, but as for the area around the campus, let's just say I'm glad we decided to live in Brooklyn.
I'm going to sleep now, but it's good to know that the Rockies are represented at our school by someone other than myself. I wore an otherwise inconspicuous purple t-shirt to class today. I was hyper-aware of people wearing Rockies colors when I was out today, and I saw a few on my commute, but I saw none on campus.
I did see signs on campus about a World Series watching party, and I thought momentarily of attending, but I was looking forward to watching at home with my wife.
I wore a Rockies jersey today
I like Bronxville very much, Yonkers not so much. And according to our Rox fan compatriot, the World Series watching party was murder, as he suffered through all of it with a bunch of bandwagoners... good thing I skipped that too.

Well, that was interesting
So, hi. I'm guessing everyone's in bed right now trying to forget tonight happened and dreaming about a better game tomorrow, but I finally decided to delurk and register. As a quick intro, I grew up in the Denver area, now live in the SF Bay area (go by AT&T Park every day, am glad the Giants stink so I don't have to hear about them).
During the NLCS and tonight I hung out over in the ESPN.com game conversations, and as much as I enjoy the back and forth with opposing fans and other neutral fans, I decided I needed a haven with mostly fellow Rox fans, especially after tonight, so I might hang out here more tomorrow night. Plus, there are way more Sox fans than Dbacks fans and it was hard to keep up tonight.
Anyway, long-winded introduction over, I'm looking forward to tomorrow, despite what happened tonight. It was painful, it was embarrassing, but tomorrow is a new day and a new game.
Welcome
