Rockies Win! Rockies Win!

So many heroes again tonight. U-ball, Kaz, Yorvit, the pen, Hawpe, Atkins, and Jeff Baker! What a run!

Kudos to Philadelphia for not rolling over like the Cubs earlier tonight, but after sweeping the Phillies we are the team going on to Chase Field and the NLCS against the Diamondbacks starting Thursday. When these two teams squared off on Opening Day, who in their right minds had both of them pegged to get this far? Seriously this is madness. Even somebody as half baked as myself only had one of them in this.

Go Rockies! Four wins away from our first pennant, eight from our first World Series trophy!

Congratulations, Brandi
And congratulations to the Rockies and their fans. I was out in Denver for a week this summer and I had a great time in three games at Coors Field. May you be guided with the best of luck on your trek to the World Series.

D'Backs vs. Rockies
I was at opening day, as I'm sure a lot of Purple Row regulars were.  The thought never even crossed my mind that these would be the two teams in the NLCS.

The thing that I'm most excited about is that I now get to watch this team play for at least four more games.

Congratulations to you guys...

Clearly im a good luck charm (:P), and hopefully they continue their hot streak.

And please...tell the mascot to freaking me out.

OHHHHHH BABY
Can somebody pinch me? Flying back for the NLCS games. I hope all you people who bought "Rockies Wild Card Champs" t shirts feel dumb, cause you'll be buying "World Series Champ" t shirts in a few weeks.
Juuuust a bit outside.

Just waiting for the extension...
ALL HAIL THE GREAT AND POWERFUL KAZUO MATSUI!!!

On a lighter note, I was watching the FSN postgame show and they showed one of those gawd awful Dane Cook commercials.  Except it was the Cubs-D'backs "something's gotta give one."

Uh, guys?  It gave about 5 hours ago.  Just so you know.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh baby
when i was at opening day, i had no idea i was watching an NLCS preview.  unbelievable.  if the rox can keep stephen drew and chris young for dominating them, as the cubs failed to, i think they'll be ok.

Congratulations!
Man, we're gonna get sick of you guys after a while!  But, until then, congratulations!  I'm looking forward to the next series.

Anyone want to post an over/under on how many moments of painful dead air we'll have to endure, due to how the announcers are so terribly ignorant about either team?

They've got a few days to bone up.
Not that they'll use 'em. They had an entire freaking season to get it right for the LDS', and didn't.

I can't wait to hear about Brandon Webb, the humidor, Todd Helton, Eric Byrnes, and Matt Holliday about 400 times each. Ugh...

Ahahahaha
one of the most incredible parts about the humidor is every series, at least once, they take a camera into it and talk about it like it's an uber-invention created by the spawn of satan to regulate baseball at altitude.

Then they go on to mention how Coors routinely inflates numbers like it's nobodys business.

It's a whole world of fun. It's like we have this great secret that everyone wants to unravel and see if it's real. Then they find out...and don't change their opinion about the park one bit.

The best part of all of it is the thing has been around since 2002. Just goes to show how ridiculously ignored the 'novelty' that is baseball in Colorado really has been.

No offense to the d bags
But your lineup doesn't exactly instill fear in me the way that Rollins, Chut, Pat, and Howard did...

Feel free to go read BleedCubbieBlue.
Didn't instill fear in them, either.

Yeah
But the Rockies aren't the Cubs, either

Very true
too bad we're pretty evenly matched with the Rockies over the season, unlike the Scrubs.
Stay jammy, my friends.

Incidentally....
You'll understand if I do somewhat take offense, on behalf of the "D-bags."

Just got back
Wow.  Just wow.

ELECTRIC!!!!

Coors was absolutely ELECTRIC tonight.

I have never, and I mean, EVER, heard Coors that loud before.  Especially Tulo's AB.  Tu-lo! Tu-lo! Tu-lo! You could hear it echoing in there.

Also this:  I felt some rain, or something in about the 6th or 7th.  I was sitting in the upper deck, looked up, and among the bugs flying about, you could see a few snowflakes falling.

Snowflakes folks, SNOWFLAKES!!

It is a sign people, a good sign, WE are the team of destiny this year!

Believe!!! Ladies and gentlemen, our guys have done it!!!

Oh, what a night!
Just got back.  Hell of a view from up in U343.  I just saw our team advance to the Championship Series.  I can't process all of this.  At the beginning of the season I just didn't want to finish last.  Halfway through I figured .500 wasn't too much to ask for.  A week into September, I wanted to beat the Dodgers to third place.  Now...?  I just can't tell how high is up anymore.  Bring on the Snakes!

Little white towel of Joy
I'll never wash my new souvenir and every time I look at it I'll think of this team and their amazing run..

I don't think my ears will stop ringing for a bloody week.

i really thought...
...my head was going to explode down there tonight.  i went to a world series game that wasn't that amazing...

Remarkable
I was coming home from Birmingham, Alabama tonight. Followed the whole game on my cellphone because I didn't have a radio feed available. Once Baker singled in the 8th I knew we were on our way.

I'll be back in Colorado on the 13th. Game 3 of the NLCS is at Coors Field on the 14th. In other words... uh, anybody know where I could score a ticket? ;)

WOW!
I can say now, without a doubt, that my first post-season game ever completely exceeded my admittedly lofty expectations. I'm posting from the airport again - Denver, this time.  Flying home for a couple of hours before heading out for work in Dallas, then to Boulder Thursday and Friday. The blessing is I won't be traveling for the NLCS opener. I really feel good about our chances, but wish we didn't have to wait so long. Still, I wouldn't trade the sweep, and my presence at the clincher, for anything. My host, a native Detroiter, and veteran of many post-season games (Red Wings, Broncos, and most recently the Tigers in the WS), said he's never experienced anything like last night. Let's keep it going!
You smell that? Do you smell that? Baseball in October, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of Baseball in October.

America's Team
Not sure how it happened, but the Rockies appear to be America's team for the 2007 playoffs.  Go Rox.
