Around SBN: The Ten Worst Swings Of The 2011 Season

Sunday Morning Rockpile: Kennedy Remembered

Troy Renck has a great piece on his memories of Joe Kennedy.

-----

In off season contract news, Alex Rodriguez's new contract will have home run incentives in order to move the total possible value of the deal to $305M. It's going to be a media spectacle when Rodriguez approaches the all-time record.

The Reds spent $46M over four years for Francisco Cordero recently. Wow, the Reds spent some money. The move certainly makes the bullpen look better, but it's not going to make the team a contender.

hmm...
I thought I heard that incentive clauses weren't allowed by MLB.  Is that true?  If so, what is different about this one?

From
the AP report:
The Yankees could designate each level as a historic event, enabling Rodriguez to receive the added money in exchange for additional personal appearances and signed memorabilia for the club. That enabled the agreement to be allowed by the players' association and the commissioner's office. Baseball generally prohibits bonuses based on statistics such as home runs.

thanks...
seems like it should be disallowed to me, based on their own guidelines.
