Game #116: Ian Stewart's debut
Josh Fogg vs. Rich Hill.
The Rockies will need to win this one, and it would be nice to see Ian with a big game his first night out. Rich Hill is a tough left-hander, but if Stewart's AAA season has taught us anything, it's that he hits lefties better than you would expect, and that he does well in Colorado. Maybe this will work out well for us after all.
Go Rockies!

What's the deal with
I don't know if this has been posted
I hope he clears and stays in Tulsa, though.
Advanced Gameday
Fogg just needs to quit nibbling and come at them with the cutter.
Loosely, I suppose
37 pitches
Spilly!
Maybe he can catch
Hawpe
To his credit
Hurdles should have had a brief conversation after that one. With Fogg getting no help, Hill doesn't deserve any either.
It seems to be a big
Is Taveras injured again (or still)?

Now for the moment
It wasn't productive
Stewart was our first pick the year I really started to follow the draft, so like you, I've been anxiously awaiting today, and it's just exciting to look at the young talent up and down this order.
Kaz!!!
Whoo HOO
Now, please resign an extension...Hurdle should walk the papers out to 2nd
TV just showed
Looks like
As long as we see good offense
HOLY SHEEIIITTTTTT!!!!
Deepest part of the park
As someone who's spent time
Past due
No one expected his transition to be effortless or without growing pains but last year it sure seemed like he had stalled out in terms of improving out there.
This year he has definitely shown marked signs of improvement.
Keep those up Stewart and they'll
Two nice swings
As encouraging as outs can be.
Throwing motion
Appreciating Helton
It has to feel a bit like standing 30 feet in front of a pitching machine.
That last strike
AG says both called strikes were balls
Noticeably bad
Seems to be a big strike zone now.
I'm thumbing between MLB.tv and AG
Hurdle
He did it immediately as well.
Instead
I htink Morillo
So do I
Not intentional
That said, that pitch that hit Baker was about as violent and scary as it gets.
Not only did he have zero time or ability to move but that ball went right up into him so fast that you can hardly flinch even watching the video before it hits him.
It looked like Marquis threw the pitch from 40 feet out instead of 60 feet.
I think I just
Way to go Jamie!
LOL
You the man, Jamey.

That just erased his awful two month start
Exciting
I hollered like I do watching a football game.
What an incredibly exciting hit for Jamey.
For a non walk-off situations you can't get much bigger than that in terms of both actual and emotional impact.
And TULO
A fitting reward for Fogg as well
No guarantees we keep it, but a 4+ run lead is all you can ask for.
He isn't bad
The problem is that as constructed
This doesn't matter for the rest of 2007, and Fogg shouldn't go anywhere for the remainder of this season anyways. But looking forward, if he is a part of our 2008 plans, the FO hasn't done its part to upgrade the rotation.
Totally agree
He is a good number 5 starter.
If you had an ace or two at the front of the rotation and had Fogg as your fifth starter you would be in great shape. The Rockies can't acquire that true shutdown pitcher via trade or free agency so they need to find other spots in the rotation to make up the slack.
Interesting sub to leave Carroll
All in all, he should feel satisified with his debut. He took two balls hard the other way against a tough lefty, fielded everything his way, and still helped keep the big rally alive.
Can't argue
Why cover your mouth
Props to Atkins on a great pick
It's easy to forget that Atkins was a first baseman by trade, but it's nice to see HE hasn't forgotten.
Not easy to forget
Feels great to go "Oh, a defensive upgrade, Atkins is playing" in regards to a specific defensive position.
Comparison
Hawpe
WHOO HOO Pour it on!
Brandon!
The two-run, oppossite field homerun was nice also.
2 more!
Some carry over
Plus, this game has to do a LOT to wash out the bad taste of the last two games.
Minor league note
His K rate fell from 18.9/9 to 16.1/9...

Well
I can't believe Carroll hit a GS. When he came up all I was hoping for was a base hit. He was so pumped when he crossed home plate, too.
