Herges, Hill, express regret for getting caught using PED's

I'm sorry, somebody had to say it after the PR blitz down the left sidebar (here's an example). I'm a fan of both Herges and Hill as players and as people and like a lot of people think they deserve forgiveness for making dumb mistakes in the past, but there's always something a little disingenuous to me about issuing apologies like this long after the damage has been done. Both statements being released simultaneously also imply to me that these public written apologies probably were required by the league to avoid or lessen possible suspensions rather than being sincere expressions of remorse to me, you or any other Rockies fan.

Do I think they regret using PED's? Absolutely, I'm sure there are plenty of kernels of truth in each of their statements. Do I think they really care about what Rockies fans think about it, though? I'm not convinced.

I'd like to believe,

like you, that the apologies are sincere. Particularly from Herges. I became a big fan of his last season. Being a bit older, I sympathize with, and understand the "relief" he claims to feel for coming clean and admitting the truth. As mom has always said, "When you face the sun, the shadows fall behind you."

Maybe we'll never know if either of them is being sincere. I think I'll err on the side of forgiveness in this case, simply because my world will be a little better for believing it. You, my comrades in arms, may feel very differently.

Just Wondering.....

will all the idiotic fans in the left field of Coors who shout drunken obcenity-laced insults at Bonds the last few years do the same for Herges and Hill? Maybe they can switch thier seats to the 1st base side.

Sorry for my rant to all the real fans who love the game......I'm just embarrased when I take my daughter to any Giants games at Coors and have to explain a new expletive each time.

Here is a bad idea

Lets sign Jeff Weaver to a minor league contract. See what he does in spring training and work from there, but odds are he is just done with his career. I'm just hoping that he can be a miracle ace at Coors Field.

I have to say

It seems a little sly to arrange for the "apologies" to be done on the day of the Clemens debacle - just so it can be slipped in without many people noticing......

Or maybe I just a cynic in my old age ^.^
