Spring Training Game #22

My apologies to everybody for being late, I've been having some computer and car issues this afternoon. We currently lead the White Sox one to nothing.

Ouch
U-ball has given up two homers in the bottom of the first; Sox lead it 2-1. Also, wasn't Hawpe supposed to DH today? Does that mean there has been some kind of setback....?

Walk and HBP, 2 on, 2 out
Uh... U-ball, seeing what with our rotation being in the suspect shape it is, no need to join them to make them feel better.

Tulo HR makes it 4-2
but it won't last long. U-ball has nothing today -- bases loaded with no outs and Thome up in the bottom of the second. I pray it's just wildness and he's not injured...

U-Ball got out of it
with only a small hurt.  Game tied 4-4, Holliday walks to start the top of the 3rd.

Baker RBI single
scores Holliday; 5-4 us. Turning into a slugfest here...

Yorvit is playing out of his mind
I should know better than to hope that this can continue. 6-4 on his RBI single and he stole a base (!!) with Sully up.

Bowie
replaces Jimenez; 1 K, one BB, one GO, and one FO.  7-4 Rox, top of 6.

Bowie seems like he's got a good grip on things...or maybe it just seems that way because of how off U-Ball was.

Man
Why did Hurdle put undefined.undefined into the game?  Doesn't a 54.00 ERA mean ANYTHING to him?  And that number on his jersey... "# HP"... doesn't even seem like a real baseball player.

Ouch
I need to be more careful of when I heckle Gameday... undefined.undefined just gave up a 3-run shot to Thome.  10-9 ChiSox now.

Whoever the hell this Santiago scrub is
is on the verge of coughing it all up in the bottom of the eighth. 9-7 us, but the Chisox have scored three times already and have two on with two outs.

And there it is
3-run homer by Thome, 10-9 Sox. Iii...... think we shoulda left Bucky in.

Matt Daley
serves up a long ball to Thome. 10-9, White Sox.

Ok, Matt Daley is in now.
Didn't give up the homer.

I've never heard of Daley or Santiago
until today, and based on recent performances, I feel no desire to continue the associations...

Santiago is perpetual minor league filler
But like the commenter from Modesto below indicates, I wouldn't be so quick to write off Daley. He's one of those Ryan Speier type of guys that proves himself at every level. He could be in our bullpen picture later this season with injuries, or more likely 2009.

The culprit was...
Tomas Santiago, who I'm not familiar with.  Sox announcers on FSN Chicago called him Daley, too.

by alexcolfax on Mar 19, 2008 5:01 PM MDT up reply actions

I just turned on the game when Thome hit the homer
and the announcers said Daley.

Tomas Santiago...
Has been in Modesto for a few years. Injured Often. Nothing special.
Matt Daley is a reliever that could surprise people. He looks like a little guy, but his stuff is pretty good. He was in Modesto in 2006 and Tulsa in 2007.

Stew ties the game on a sac fly.
He's doing all he can.

Sheez
Q triples, Stew ties it up .... weird game. Tied at 10 going to the bottom of the 9th, and not a good day for pitchers here at TEP.

But there shouldn't be ties in baseball,
even Spring Training games. Probably shouldn't give up a three-run homer towards the end of the game either if you want a victory . . .
