Tomko!
This should be fun.

Didn't he one-hit us in April
with the Dodgers? Holliday's double stopped it from being NO hits.

I might not be out from under the desk if that had happened. Well, yes I would. In any rate, we paid back the Dodgers in good kind in September.

In six innings,
or did this not happen? You know, just as Ramon Ramirez never was knocked around by the Royals last season.

Went over to Royals Review

Ugh
And they just throw out the link like they have it bookmarked especially for these situations.  Why can't we be over it yet?

DeJesus gets on base
with an infield hit after Baker juggles the ball (no error, though).

Now two to nothing,
Not a good start by Jimenez, he's getting hit pretty hard today.

It's the bad Royals juju
I hate those guys.

Bright side: Facing Brett Tomko.

At least when we lose this one
in the most grisly, agonizing way imaginable, it won't count. Take that, evil Royals.

There are those control problems again
2 BB in 1 inning and another run for the Royals. How is it that I can hate an American League team we barely play and who sucks (against everyone except us) so much? I'm serious. It's spring and I wanna beat some muthas.

I am moving to Kansas City this summer
Just in time to catch the Rockies play in KC.  If you hear about a bunch of the Royals coming down with a mysterious illness, I know nothing of it.

by Blake20th on Mar 4, 2008 1:58 PM MST reply actions

We have to play them again?!
I'm pre-emptively forbidding those three days from existing.

I'll be at two of them
but the other is on my wedding anniversery and my wife and I will be doing something else I suppose.

Anyone else lived in KC and know of cool places there?

by Blake20th on Mar 4, 2008 2:02 PM MST up reply actions

Haven't lived there
but you live in Texas at the moment, right? (I'm not sure). What brings you out to KC?

by Silverblood on Mar 4, 2008 2:03 PM MST up reply actions

My wife's from KC
Right now she is finishing up her degree.  We live in a small town in east Texas and we are both very tired of it.  I'm from Albuquerque and we both just can't wait to move to a city! We had a really good deal housing-wise happen in KC.  I plan on going to grad school and there isn't one around here so I'll probably end up being a Jayhawk.

by Blake20th on Mar 4, 2008 3:38 PM MST up reply actions

Been there
Arthur Bryant's might be the best barbecue I've ever had.

And, in my opinion, the KC Star has the best sports section in the country. They certainly have the best sports columnist (Pos). Enjoy reading him five days a week.

Vizcaino allows a two run HR
He's having a pretty bad Spring so far, I'm really hoping that changes as we get closer to March 31.

by Rox Girl on Mar 4, 2008 2:02 PM MST reply actions

He sure doesn't look
like a great stopgap at the moment, he looks like an evil scientist took the worst of LaTroy Hawkins and Brian Fuentes and cobbled them together.

It was probably the Royals.

Guhhhh
Better get in practice...

VIZCAINO, YOU SUCK!

He's actually trying out there, right? Not just tinkering on some pitch? The inauspicious spring for a guy imagined to be a key member of our 'pen and a crucial link to Corpas is making me a weeeee bitty nervous. Not too much, not yet. It's still early, yes. But bears watching.

I was just about to point out
that we had only 2 hits and 2 runs against Tomko...

Now we have 3 hits. And 3 runs. Attakid, Baker. I'm starting to root for him to be the front-runner, and I swear that was before the HR.

He's definitely been showing the most
in game play. Nix hasn't had much opportunity lately, but I haven't seen or heard anything that makes me not want Jeff as our starter.

Well looky there
Brian Lawrence. Last year at this time, he was in OUR camp trying to win a job. I can't help but think, even with Kip Wells lurking in the wings, we are better off now than we were then.

How about Iannetta's spring?
Yet another double. He really seems to be emphatic about making the team. If he can carry this over to the regular season, we'll be just fine as far as our catchers go.

by Rox Girl on Mar 4, 2008 2:26 PM MST reply actions

I always think
that performing well in preseason reflects better on you, especially if you're a guy fighting for time, then does, you know, sucking. (Coughvizcainogilescough) This may seem self-evident, but a lot of times, people discount spring results as not mattering.

Doh! Another double for Iannetta
But he got thrown out trying to stretch it to third. I like the aggressiveness, but maybe he can tone it down a bit when the games count.

by Rox Girl on Mar 4, 2008 2:57 PM MST reply actions

I'm fond of that kid
And he's absolutely showing why he deserves the shot to stay. And start, if everything aligns.

you don't want to know
8-4 Royals now, heading into the bottom of the eighth.

I'm developing a genuine
deep-seated, neurotic, unhealthy hatred for the Royals. The Royals! What is going on here?

by Silverblood on Mar 4, 2008 3:15 PM MST up reply actions

Well
at least with the Royals we could only play a max of 3-4 games every few years. Personally I'm more worried about the freaking Pirates.

Baker and Smith back to back doubles
8-5 now, the Rockies are coming back against Milwaukee's left fielder.

Braun
Hee hee. I keep thinking the same thing.

Okay, how do you pronounce Bellorin? At first the MLB.com guy was pronouncing it as it looks, now he's saying it like "Bayorine."

by holly96 on Mar 4, 2008 3:23 PM MST up reply actions

He's more correct the second way
But he's got a weird, unfluid way of pronouncing it even though it's technically correct.

by Rox Girl on Mar 4, 2008 3:27 PM MST up reply actions

And now we have a third pronunciation
He doesn't seem to know how he wants to say it. First it was phonetically, then it was "Bay-or-INE" and just now it was "BAY-or-in."
