Mets blogger puts us in a NY state of mind
The last time the NY Mets were in town, the Colorado Rockies did something no team had done since 1956. They swept their second NY team of the regular season. The last team to do that? The Milwaukee Braves broomed both the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants 51 years earlier.
This season, both the Rockies and Mets come scuffling into this series. NY has dropped 4 straight and are in 4th in the NL East. The Rox have lost 2 straight at home and find themselves in 4th in the NL West (and need binoculars to see the first place D-backs).
We brought in Kingman from the Mets blog Loge13.com "The last days of Shea" to discuss the Mets as they come in for a weekend visit to the Mile High City. His blog covers all-things-Mets and even has a Shea Stadium Doomsday clock! (Too cool!) We discussed the troubles of both teams, Johann Santana hype, Carlos Beltran's smack-talk, Clint Hurdle's job security and how lovesick I've become for former-Met/former-Rock Kaz Matsui.......

Keep the Faith, Rockies fans
Dear Rockies fans,
I know it’s been a very, very tough road so far this season. We all expected amazing things out of our defending National League Champions. And yet, here we are, back where we were last May: 9 games under .500 and in last place in the NL West.
No time to fret though. We’ve been here before and still turned it around and made it to the World Series. So, in hopes of talking all the Rockies fans off the ledge, away from the “fluke” talk, I’ve made today “Keep the Faith Day” on my Rockies blog.

Simulate your own Rockies late-inning collapse!
Man, it has been painful to watch these last three games. I mean like Middle-Ages-dungeon-torture painful. First an old pal, Kaz Matsui kicks us in the unmentionables. Then the bullpen does it again at home against the Phillies... two nights in a row.
But, now you can get that same good wholesome feeling in the comfort of your own home without wasting three hours of your time leading up to it. I have a how-to guide posted on today's new entry: On The Rox. Click here to find out how!

Padres guru Dex of SB Nation's own Gaslampball.com gives his take
In the latest On The Rox post, we brought in SB Nation's own Dex of Gaslampball.com so that we could (as he put it) "needle" him about "the slide." Check out his reaction to Game No. 163, the Padres "Shakespearean" collapse (his words, not mine), the changes they've made this season and whether or not he thinks Trevor Hoffman should hang 'em up. Pretty interesting stuff.

Braves reporter gives his take
Hey Purple Row-sters,
Got a new post today, in collaboration with Sam Crenshaw, an Atlanta Braves reporter from WXIA in Atlanta. I asked him how he thinks the elder statesmen in the Braves rotation will fare, and what los Bravos have done to plug the big holes left by Andruw Jones and Edgar Renteria.
Crenshaw also goes on to talk about whether he think the Braves can be a darkhorse in the NL East this season.
So, Rockies fans, step away from the ledge, and check out the latest post by clicking the link below:

Check out my Opening Day photos
Check out the photos I took on Opening Day:
"The scene down by the stadium was unreal. The sun was warm and the enthusiasm was palpable. People were packed into every square inch of every rooftop bar and grill in Lower Downtown. Radio stations blared their broadcasts from nearly every corner. There were free giveaways all over the place. People kept stopping my wife to have their photo taken with her. She has bright red hair and was decked out in a Rockies jersey, a purple tutu, purple fishnets, Rockies logo earrings and purple high heel boots. She was definitely a hit."

What are the best Eric Byrnes heckles?
So, my wife and I just bought the 25-game draft-your-own-lineup plan for the left field bleachers of Coors Field. I wrote about it in my most recent blog post (Click here to read it.)
Among our 25 games are 5 against the DiamondHacks (as I call them). Which means, 5 chances this year to get inside Eric Byrnes' ear.
I'll definitely need to be armed with some good Eric Byrnes heckles. My favorite one to yell at him over the last couple years has been to remind him he hit .189 as a member of the Rockies.
If you've got better heckles to yell at Byrnes, click that link above and send them my way! I'll put together a top 10 list once I get enough responses.

Pondering the Podsednik pick-up
When I first heard the Rockies had invited 2005 World Series hero Scott Podsednik to spring camp, I was pretty excited about the move. I've always been a pretty big fan of the speedy outfielder and I'm big on trusting my gut feeling.
But, I do kind of wonder if he'll even make the team coming out of Spring Training. More...
