Recap - Rockies come close, but Pujols gets cigar

Matt Anderson's welcome to Coors may not last long if he keeps this up. Anderson struggled in relief allowing two in just two thirds, and despite an uncannily decent performance by Jamey Wright, Albert Pujols' eighth inning three-run shot off of Jay Witasick was too much to overcome and the Rox lost five to four.

The offense couldn't do its part either meanwhile due to lack of production up top (only a single by Barmes and nothing but a sac bunt from Luis Gonzalez, as well as a lack of power from anywhere -as the only extra base hit was JD Closser's double (he was then stranded).

Sigh. So in other words, a similar story to what was played on the road trip. Argh.

Anyway, in roster moves, Jose Acevedo was placed on the DL to make room for Anderson, but more importantly to our future, Rule Five pick Matt Merricks moves to the 60 day DL making it more likely that the Rockies will be able to hang on to him for the duration of the season, giving us one more option for the pen in 2006.
