Ian Stewart - Third Baseman

6' 3", 205 lbs., acquired in the first round, tenth overall in the 2003 entry draft from La Quinta high school in California.

An almost unanimous number one selection here at Purple Row, Stewart belongs on top of the Rockies prospect list due to his tremendous power potential. His compact, quick stroke and off the charts makeup fill us with visions of MVP caliber seasons down the road, Stewart is still a cornerstone of our future Dynasty.

Career Stats not including this year.

This year's stats.

Stewart began 2005 at extended Spring Training nursing a hamstring pull, and when he came back to Modesto in May he was pressing too hard and making mistakes atypical of his career to date. Defense was a question mark, and Stewart's early eighteen errors that season didn't inspire confidence. However, Ian improved both at the plate and in the field to close out the season.

Now in 2006, Stewart started off strong at Tulsa but has been having difficulties hitting southpaws. Some people see his high K rate as a sign he doesn't have enough contact to succeed at the major league level, but he's an arduous worker and should improve there in the next season or two.

Stewart's estimated time of arrival in Coors is late in '06 or perhaps Spring of '07 unless he hits a snag in his development.
