Off-Topic: The Sky Is Falling

The '06-'07 NBA season's not even a week old but there are two things I need to write something about.

The first is Carmelo Anthony: Nice way to start off being a captain of the team. Getting thrown out of the first game of the season can in no way be good for the team. All we can do as fans is move on and hope it doesn't happen again.

The other topic: the Knicks. Is there a more laughable franchise in all of sport? I don't think so.

The Knicks won their first game of the season on Opening Night in triple overtime. Just barely. Based on the papers, the next day should have been a city holiday.

Anyway, it seems the sky has fallen as the Knicks lost the next game. If someone looked at yesterday's back pages a few months from now, without knowing the date on the paper, the person would probably think the Knicks' season was over.

At least the Rockies aren't owned by the Dolans. The team would have the money but would also be contributing quite a bit to revenue sharing as a result of a number of bad contracts. The Knicks will still be over the salary cap by the time the Rockies win their first World Series.
