Sunday Pebble Report: The Runnin' Rockies

The Runnin' Rockies are profiled by Irv Moss.

Colorado Springs: Sunny Kim and Steve Colyer combined on a 1-hit shutout agains Omaha as the team won 9-0. Kim K'ed 5 and walked 3. Spilborghs had an RBI, Carlos River had two, and Ryan Shealy collected 3, who has 8 in 10 games since his return. Omar Quintanilla also collected 3 hits.

Tulsa: The Drillers spilt the double-header, winning the first and losing the second. In the first game, Tulo collected two hits and an RBI. Seth Smith hit his 4th homer. Alvin Colina collected the third RBI. Manuel Corpas picked up his 8th save.

In the second game, Matt Macri went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI. Stewart and Tulo went a combined 0-for-8. Jason Burch picked up the loss

Modesto: This one took extra frames, but the Nuts picked up the win after Anthony Granato crossed the plate in the 11th. Ryan Mattheus went 7 strong innings as K'ed 7, walked only 1 and allowed no Rs. Bright, Clarke and Merrell held the opposing team hitless for the next 4 innings.

Asheville: The basepaths were alive last night as the Tourists stole 7 bases (Garner 2, Carte, Blumenthal, Fowler, Young, and Nelson). Young now has 26 on the season and Folwer 18. Fowler, Young and Garner all hits doubles as the Tourists won 6-1. Carte chipped in 2 RBI. Jake Postlewait went 7, K'ed 7, gave up 1 hit and no runs.
