Jonathan "I have no idea who David Bailey is" Mayo just put up his first complete mock draft and he has the Rox choosing Evan Longoria, who seems to be consensus pick among the Row regulars (despite what the poll shows). But there are a few things of interest to note: 1) Brad Lincoln's name has been connected with the #2 pick - Do we really need to draft a guy who projects to be like current Rockies player Jason Jennings at #2? I'd prefer Morrow or, well that leads me to my next point. 2) Mayo projects Luke Hochevar to be the #5 pick, but:
Hochevar might just be the best pitcher to take in the first round, but that's just my opinion.
No real big surprises in picks 21-30, though the Yankees and Scherzer could be considered one I guess.
Let's assume that Longoria is the pick in the first round. The team should probably look at pitching with the second pick. At this point here are some of the top college pitchers available and one or two high schoolers: USC's Ian Kennedy, Oregon State's Dallas Buck, UC Irvine's Blair Erickson, San Diego State's Justin Masterson, Villanova's Kevin Mulvey, Hawaii's Steven Wright, New York HSer Dellin Betances and Texas HSer Jordan Walden.
And here's how many picks we need to wait from the end of the first to the Royals' second pick:
