Colorado Springs: A little note in today's Post: O's won't give up Penn for Shealy. On to the game! Wait, it wasn't that exciting since they lost 5-4. Jaime Cerda came in for two innings of relief and K'ed 5, while starter Zach Parker walked 4 and K'ed only 1 in 5 innings of work. Jason Smith had 3 hits, 2 of which were triples and an RBI.

Tulsa: Before we get to the game, Stu Cole talks about the best players he's coached; also, a mention that Tulo is hampered by a sore left knee and is out for a little while. And all eyes are on the Drillers. Juan Morillo won his 6th game in a 6-1 rout of the Midland Rockhounds. He lasted 5 1/3 innings, K'ed 3 and walked 2. He allowed 1 R on 5 H. Seth Smith hit his 7th homer and Joe Gaetti his 10th. Ian Stewart recorded his 40th RBI and Joe Koshansky had 2 hits to go along with 2 walks.

Modesto: It was a 1-0 loss for the Nuts as the first half of the season ended last night. The team recorded a total of 4 hits and none were for extra bases. Hector Cardenas gave up the only run on 8 H. He K'ed 4 and walked 2.

Asheville: The Tourists lost a tight one last night, 4-3. Andrew Johnston blew the save in the 9th inning as he gave up 2 R on 3 H in 1/3 of an inning. Xavier Cedeno went 6 innings and K'ed 2. Cole Garner (10) and Phil Cuadrado (5) each hit homers. Travis Becktel had a hit and Jason Van Kooten stole his 15th base.

Tri-City: The Dust Devils won last night but are still offensively-challenged. Shane Lindsay (1-1) went 5 innings, allowed 1 hit and K'ed 12. Michael McKenry reached base on a throwing error that allowed Steven Boggs to score the only run of the game.

Casper: The Rockies were shutout 3-0 last night. Brandon Hynick took the mound last night and, despite picking up the loss, had a nice debut. He went 4 2/3 innings, allowed 2 R on 4 H and K'ed 6. Daniel Hanna K'ed 5 in 2 innings of relief. Hector Gomez had 2 hits, while David Christensen K'ed 4 times in 4 ABs.

College: Jay Cox went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the Tar Heels victory over Dallas Buck and the Oregon State Beavers. The Heels are one win away from capturing their first National Championship and the ACC's since the 1950's.
