Remember when we came back from that awful road trip and were looking forward to playing the bottom teams in the NL as a respite and a chance to get back into the thick of things? Alright, let me guess, after getting swept by the Marlins you're not feeling so sure we'll be close enough to care about looking at the standings when we get into August now. Me neither. Glad we established that fact. I do know, though, that this team should be playing better than they are right now and we should be a lot closer to the D-backs than seven games out.
So what do we do as fans? I'm thinking for right now, I'm going back into last year mode and putting the Rockies on field results on the back burner until they start righting the ship. Instead, I'll obsess over who we're going to draft and what we can get for trading Sunny Kim, and what Chris Iannetta's doing down in Tulsa, and how good Matt Holliday and Brad Hawpe are, and how great next year will be when Tulo and Stewart are here, etc...
It's my own little denial therapy, but it works for me. Of course, Aaron Cook and company can start bringing me back to the newspaper listings by starting a long winning streak tonight...
Go Rockies!
